LUCIE COUNTIES (772) 410-3752 P.O.Boz 650011,Vero Beach,FL 32965 To: St. Lucie County Building Department Date: March 6, 2020 Attention: Plans Examiner - 2300 Virginia Avenue Fort Pierce, FL 34982 RE: Permit#1911-0231, Roof, In-progress Inspection 4301 Edwards Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34982 Dear Plans Examiner, This letter is provided to confirm the new roof installed in 2019 at the subject property is compliant with the current and applicable Florida Building Code, 6th Edition 2017 FBC. On February 27th of this year, I, Gregory J. Bertaux, PE, personally inspected the new roof 5-V metal roof installed at 4301 Edwards Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34984. 1 inspected the roof from the exterior using an extension ladder and I fully entered the attic to inspect and verify the materials and workmanship related to the roof. From my detailed inspection I determined the following: Roof Sheathing 1. All roof sheathing is original to the structure and no sections of the sheathing have been replaced since the structure was built. 2. The fastening of the roof sheathing has been upgraded (re-nailed) to comply with current, 2017-FBC 6th edition requirements;there are 8d ring shank nails spaced 4-6 inches on center at all locations to fasten the sheathing to the roof rafters/trusses. Roof Covering 1. The new roof coving is a screwed down, 5-V metal roof and is suitable for all existing roof slopes on which it is installed as all slopes on the structure are greater than one-quarter unit vertical in 12 units horizontal (2-percent slope). 2. The metal roof panels are corrosion resistant and have a minimum thickness not less than 0.013-inches. The panels were manufactured by Dynamic Metals, LLC in West Palm Beach, FL. They were identified as "DM Class 500 26 Gauge, Galvalume 5V Crimp 24" Wide Roof Panel". The panels meet the requirements of Sections 1507.4 and 1518.9 of the 6th Edition 2017 Florida Building Code. Page 1 of 2 3. Appropriate metal flashings that are corrosion resistant are installed at locations where the roof panels are have openings, are interrupted, or are terminated. The flashings are installed in a manner that prevents moisture from entering the structure and the flashings comply with 2017-FBC, R903.2.1 and were found to have at minimum a#26 gage and weight. 4. The underlayment installed is appropriate and complies with 2017-FBC, Sec.905.1.1 for metal panel roof coverings. The underlayment is "Titanium PSU 30" manufactured by InterWrap Roofing Products Division. It complies with ASTM D 1970 standard. It is a self-adhesive underlayment of synthetic construction from modified rubberized asphalt and plastic film surface. The material is permitted to be used as prescribed in FBC Section 1507.1.1 for mechanically attached roof coverings. 5. The attachment of the metal roof panels to the roof sheathing was confirmed to be compliant with the manufacturer's requirements and FBC Section 1507. The fasteners are 1 '/o inch, metal to wood zinc-plated self-drilling roofing screws with hex washer head that are acceptable for metal decks. Their spacing is not greater than 12 inches on center and they are also spaced within 2 inches of panel ends. The screws penetrate through the roof sheathing at least 3/16 of an inch as required. The screws are readily visible both on top of the roof and from within the attic spaces. The screws were measured for spacing and conformance. Gutters 1. No gutters are required, and none are installed on the subject roof. Thank you, Gregory J.
