Hey Lydia, Yes, if they are doing a home addition/renovation, they should get approval from our office. As long as they are not adding a bedroom and the addition/renovation does not infringe on the septic system or the required unobstructed area, it's just a $35 plan review. If they area adding a bedroom, the review process is a little more expensive and more thorough. When they submit to our office, we will need existing and proposed floor plans as well as a site plan showing the location of the septic system and any relevant features. Mostly, we just need to make sure that they are not adding a bedroom and that they are not building on top of the septic system. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Feel free to give the applicant my contact information. We have a permit pending for above address. The plans call for an addition to the existing house to create a larger bedroom, see attachment. The contractor now calls it a Florida room. Whichever it is, we would like to know if they need approval from your Department. The addition is 420 sf. Please let me know so I can advise the contractor accordingly.
