NOVIKSTONETM SK - STACKED STONE
INSTALLATION GUIDE
GENERAL INFORMATION
CAUTION: REMEMBER THAT POLYMER UNDERGOES EXPANSION/CONTRACTION DUE TO VARIATIONS IN
TEMPERATURE. THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS WILL ALLOW FOR THE EXPANSION / CONTRACTION OF
THE MATERIAL.
I -Always begin the installation at the lowest part of the
structure, from left to right.
2-Always nail through the installation holes. These holes
include a polymer film, which permits for precise centering of
the nail, allowing the expansion and contraction of the material.
Each complete panel must be nailed through the center hole, at
both extremities and have a minimum of 5 nails in the nailing
channel at maximal intervals of 16"(40,64cm) or less and one
nail in the lateral hole (Figure I). If panels are installed on a
furring wall, furring strips should be at 8"(20,32cm) center to
center and a furring strip is required behind each nail. Always use
non -corrosive nails or screws with a head of 0.4"(1 cm) in diameter
and a body of 0.150"(0,38cm) in diameter and penetrate a
minimum of I 1/4"(3,I8cm) into a solid surface.
3-Never hammer the nails in completely; leave a gap of
1/16"f0.16cm). The stoppers located around the holes stop
the hammer from driving the nails in too far, and provides the
required gap. (Figure 2)
4-Make sure that all pieces are proprely joined together
(Figure 3).
5-When using finition trim (i.e. NovikTrim 1, J-trim, etc.) leave a
gap of 1/4"(0,64cm) between the trim and the siding (Figure 4).
The required opening for finition trim is I"(2,54cm).
Note:
-To cut the material, it is recommended to use a circular saw
with a finishing blade.
-Keep the R-E-L number of your products (ex: REL-123456)
for future references.

INSTALLATION GUIDE
INSTALLATION STEPS
1-First install the starter strips at the lowest point of the structure.
Make sure that the horizontal starting line is perfectly leveled
and square with the wall. Leave a 1 1/2"(3,81cm) gap at each
end of the wall when using decorative corners (1). If a floor is
against the wall you must leave a gap of 5/8"(1,59cm) between
the starter and the floor (2). If there is no floor, starter strips
should be flush with the base of the wall. Nail the starter strips
through the nailing holes at maximal intervals of 8" (20,32 cm)
or less. Do not forget to nail in the center hole (3). Install the next
starter strip by sliding it leftward to the stopper in the previous
one and nail it as mentioned above (4)(Figure A).
2-When using decorative corners, cut the left side of a panel
in a straight line, insert panel into starter strip and nail [he
panel at 3 1/2"(8,89cm) from the wall edge. When using J-trim
corner, cut the left side of a panel in a straight line, insert panel
into starter strip and slide it in the J-trim corner. Leave a space
of 1/4"(0,64cm) between inside wall of J-trim and the siding
(Figure B). Measure the wall length to determine where to cut
your first panel in order to avoid having a very small piece at
the right end of the wall. Be sure to align adjacent walls.
3-On each panel, hammer a nail into the center hole of the
panel (Figure C), this will ensure even movement of panel in
both directions during expansion/contraction. Also hammer a
nail into the last hole on both ends and into the lateral hole. If
the panel is installed on a furring wall, a furring strip is required
behind these holes.
-N.B.: If a panel piece does not have the initial center hole in
the middle, drill a new center hole of 1/8"(0.32cm) diameter at
the same height as the other installation holes. Each full length
panel should besecured with a minimum of 5 nails, plus the nail
into the lateral hole.

INSTALLATION STEPS (CONTINUATION)
4-Install the following panel by hooking it into the starter strip
and sliding over the previous panel. Make sure that the tabs on
both sides are locked together and spaced equally. If installed at
outdoor temperature over 40°F(5-C), slide panel to the stoppers
(located at the rear panel or at the front, Figure D.0). When
resistance is felt, do not force insertion of part. Use the reference
line to confirm the position. If installed at outdoor temperature
under 40-F(S-C), adjust the panel to the temperature line
indicated. (Figure D.1)
5-Start the second row by cutting the first panel with 16"(40,6cm)
increment from the cutting line of the first row. Slide the hooks
located at the bottom of the panel into the top of the previously
installed row. (Figure E) Proceed with this row and subsequent
ones following steps 3 and 4 taking care with each new row
to alternate the position of the cut on the first panel. Be sure to
finish one wall before beginning another.
6-For the last row or places where you may need to attach
siding other than in installation holes at a concealed spot on
the panel use a knife to create new slots 1/2"(1,27cm)(Figure F);
the slot must be wider than the nail but not as wide as the nail
head. Although not set in installation holes, this type of cutting
will allow the expansion/contraction movement.
-If you need to set the siding at an area other than the oblong
nail hole or to set accessories on siding, at a concealed spot on
the panel create a new slot 1/2"(1,27cm) larger than the nail body
but smaller than the nail head to permit expansion/contraction.
*Do not set accessories directly on the siding. The fasteners
must be fixed on a solid surface.

INSTALLATION GUIDE
DECORATIVE CORNERS INSTALLATION
I -The installation of corners begins once you have completed
two adjacent walls.
-N.B. For proper installation and optimal corner appearance,
make sure that the ends of siding panels finish at 3 1/2"(8,89cm)
from the corner of the wall and at an equivalent height.
2-For the first corner, insert the hooks into the starter strip (G.1)
and be sure to overlap the ends of each row's panels. Fold back
the top of the part toward the corner of the wall (G.2), then nail
through the oblong holes (G.3). (Figure G)
3-For all subsequent corners, insert the hooks into the nailing strip
of the previous corner. Fold back the top of the corner toward the
wall, then nail through the oblong holes. Repeat this step to the
top of the wall. (Figure H)
4-For the last corner only, cut excess from part. On each side
of the corner, make a hole wider than the shaft of the nail,
but smaller than the head. Affix a nailing strip behind these
locations to fasten corners firmly. Fold back the top of the
corner and nail it down. (Figure 1)
INSTALLATION TIP (INSIDE CORNERS)
I -Many solutions are possible to finish an inside corner: inside
corner post (A), two J-trims (B) or two NovikTriml (C) (Figure J).
It is important to seal the inside corner of the wall prior to
installation the trims.

sides and, clip them onto the bases (Figure 7, #2). Cut the vertical
NoviTrim tops with an angle of 45` and make sure they overlap
horizontal NoviTrim tops. Clip them on the bases (Figure 7, #3).
Engage properly all hooks of NoviTrim tops. Do not push too
much on vertical NoviTrim tops to not deform the ends that
overlapping the horizontal NoviTrim tops (Figure 7, #41.
SIDING SECTION - INSTALLATION TIPS
I -Pay special attention to the position of NoviTrim moldings
junctions. For example, when finishing around the door, make
sure the seams are at the bottom of the door to make it more
subtle (Figure 8).
2-To facilitate the installation of Nov7rIm bases around
windows and doors, you can use waste pieces of NoviTrim tops
to help positioning the bases. To do so, assemble the NoviTrim
cap pieces on bases before positioning them on the wall. Push
the assembly on the window or door frame and nail on each
side of the pieces. Nail gradually throughout the base by sliding
the pieces to maintain a proper positioning. Remove the pieces
once nailing is completed and continue with the installation of
another base or installation of siding (Figure 9).

GAPS & SEALANTS
Seal all gaps with a high -quality, non -hardening, palritable
sealant with a minimum stated service life of 30 years. Follow the
sealant manufacturer's instructions for application.
WINDOWS,DOORS & OPENINGS
All openings must be properly sealed or flashed in a mannerthat
prevents moisture intrusion or buildup. Several examples that
accomplish this are shown on the following pages.
Trim should be thick enough so the siding does not extend be-
yond the face of the trim.
• Trim and fascia must be applied in a manner that will not allow
moisture intrusion or.water buildup.
• LP° SmartSide° siding is not designed and/or manufactured to
be used as trim or fascia. LP SmartSide trim and fascia are avail-
able in a variety of dimensions.
FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS

INSTALLATION GUIDE
qGENERAL INFORMATION
Lziuc
CAUTION: REMEMBER THAT POLYMER UNDERGOES EXPANSION CONTRACTION DUE TO VARIATIONS IN
TEMPERATURE. THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS WILL ALLOW FOR THE EXPANSION / CONTRACTION OF
THE MATERIAL.
I -Locate where you want to install Novistone Premium Ledge
and make sure you have solid nailing surface in these locations.
If installing on afurred wall, make sure to install furring on these
nailing locations.
2-Always nail through the installation holes. These holes
include a polymer film, which permits for precise centering of
the nail, allowing the expansion and contraction of the material.
Each complete ledge must be nailed through the center hole
and at both ends (Figure 1(. Always use non -corrosive nails
or screws with a Bead of 0.4" (Icm( in diameter and a body
of 0.150"(0,38cm( in diameter and penetrate a minimum of
3/4"(1,91cm( into a solid surface.
3-Never hammer the nails in completely, leave a gap of
1/16"(0,16cm(. The stoppers located around the holes stop
the hammer from driving the nails in too far, and provides the
required gap (Figure 2(.
4-Make sure that all pieces are properly inserted into one
another and spaced correctly. Adjust ledges to the stopper
and/or to the reference line (Figure 3(.
Note:
-To cut the material, it is recommended to use a circular saw
with a finishing blade.
-Keep the R-E-L number of your products (ex: REL-123456( for
future references.

INSTALLATION STEPS
I -Begin with the installation of the siding on the lower
section of the wall upto the desired height. For an installation.
without cutting the bottom of the ledges, go directly to the
next step. Otherwise, measure the siding thickness and cut
the bottom of ledges to allow a proper insertion of siding
under the ledges. If needed, pre-cut at I"(2,54cm) and at
2" (5,08cm) which are integrated on the lower walls of
ledges. The initial gap is the precise distance for the nailing
zones of Novik siding panels (Figure A).
2-It is recommended to begin the installation of Novistone
Premium Ledge by installing the ledge corners. See section
FINISH AT A WALL CORNER for details. For installation without
corner, go directly to the next step.
3-Measure the length of the wall and spread the cut of the first
and last.ledgeto center the installation of ledges on the wall.
If needed, cap the end pieces before installing on the wall (see
sections: FINISH AT END OF WALL for details). Install the first
ledge, previously cut according to the finish option chosen, over
the siding. Nail the ledge making sure it is level (Figure B).
4-Install each successive ledge into the previous one. Leave the
required space between each then nail it in place while making
sure to keep them level (Figure C). Repeat until the end of the wall.
Finish the wall according to the finish option chosen (see sections:
FINISH AT END OF WALL et FINISH AT WALL CORNER)
5-Once the installation of ledges is done, install the siding on the
upper section of the wall. According to the type of siding used, it
is possible to install starter strips directly on the ledges (Figure D).
Note: Pay attention to not constrain the expansion and
contraction movement of the ledges.

INSTALLATION STEPS (CONTINUATION)
6-Finish at end of wall with a cut corner end:
Cut the rear portion of a Novistone Premium Ledge Corner
straight to form a ledge cap according to which side of the wall
to complete (Figure E). Nail the ledge cap making sure it is level.
7-Finish with flat end (option 1):
Cut the end of the ledge at 90' to the desired length (Figure F, #1).
Trim a piece ofwood similar to the opening at the end of the ledge.
Paint it with a matching color and attach it to the ledge with
small screws at conceal spots. Install the assembly on the wall,
nailing as mentioned in point 2 of the GENERAL INFORMATION
section of the guide (Figure F, #2).
Note: Pay attention to not constrain the expansion and
contraction movement of the ledge or siding.
B-Finish with flat end (option 2):
Cut the end of the ledge at 90'to the desired length (Figure G, #1).
Blockthe end with a cardboard attached to the ledge with masking
tape (Figure G #21. Fill the opening at the end of the ledge using
low expansion polyurethane foam on approximately 2" (5,0Bcm)
long (Figure G, #3). Let harden. Secure the hardened foam in
the ledge with a small screw in a concealed spot. Remove the
cardboard and masking tape. Cutoff the excess foam protruding
from the end of the ledge and paint the end with a matching
color to the ledge. Install the assembly on the wall, nailing as

FINISH AT A WALL CORNER
1-Finish an outside corner:
Install a first Novistone Premium Ledge Corner on an outside
corner of two adjacent walls and nail into the installation
holes located on each side. Make sure the ledge corner is level
on both sides and secure it with a nail the closest of the wall
corner (Figure H). It is recommended to install all the ledge
corners on the walls before proceeding with the installation
of regular ledges.
2-Finish an inside corner:
Cut the end of the two ledges that forming the inside corner
of the wall to the desired length with a 45° angle (Figure I, #1).
Temporarily attaching the two ledge pieces together with
masking tape. Also apply a masking tape inside the corner
at the junction of the two ledge pieces (Figure I, #2). Fill the
inside of corner with low expansion polyurethane foam on a
minimum of 2"(5,09cm) long on each side of corner (Figure I, #3).
Let harden. Secure the hardened foam in the ledge with small
screws in concealed spots. Remove the masking tape and cut off
the excess foam protruding from the ledge. Apply sealant over
the cornerjoint as needed. Install the assembly on the wall and

PARTICULAR CASES
In a situation where it is impossible to install ledges with their
nailing channel, for example under a window, follow the
instructions below:
I -Carefully cut the nailing channel of ledges required to cover
the full length of the window.Do not throw the rest of the
ledges, it will be reused at the next step. Install this nailing
channel upside down at a distance of 1 5/16" (3,33cm) below
the window (Figure J). Nail it as mentioned in point 2 of the
GENERAL INFORMATION section of the guide.
Figure K
2-Collect ledges previously cut and; if necessary, cut the bottom
of ledges to allow a proper insertion of siding on lower section
of the wall (Figure A). Slide the ledges into the nailing channels
previously installed on the wall (Figure K). Make sure to leave
the required gap between each of them (Figure C).
3-Install siding under the ledges taking care to rise it up as close
as possible of ledges beneath windows to stabilize them. To do
this, it may be necessary to partially remove some of the ribs
inside ledges (Figure L).
4-For the finish at ends, refer to the FINISH AT END OF WALL
section of this guide.
