Dear Mr. Stepalavich, MCP/CFM:
As requested, we completed our inspection of the subject site on February 13, 2019. The purpose
of our inspection was to inspect and document the conditions of the structure after a vehicular
accident that affected part of the bearing wall on the south side. Our inspection consisted of a
visual survey of the damaged concrete masonry wall from the interior and exterior.
Our visual inspection is not expected to reveal elaborate defects, which are not evident by
deterioration exposed to view or evident to the trained eye as the structure now stands. It must
be understood that the Engineer can only provide certification of the conditions of the structures
within the limits of the structural inspection performed.
The following is a description of our findings based on our inspection of the property:
• The impact affected the south wall of the structure and covers an area of approximately
5' by 3'.
• Approximately five courses of block were damaged at the bottom of the wall.
• The wall does not appear to have lost its verticality. We did not find evidence of damage
to the vertical filled cells.
• No structural deficiencies were detected at the wall -roof connection or the bond beam.
The contractor shall repair the wall by adding one (1) vertical filled cell, drilled and epoxied to
both the top bond beam and the slab, splice as needed with a 30 lap. The remainder of the wall
will be typical unreinforced masonry. All methods and materials shall meet Florida Building Code.
Based on our inspection, to the best of our knowledge and belief, the engineer certifies that
except the local area affected, the structure is structurally sound.
