All comments are addressed as follows: 1. Comment: Provide repair details for exposed rebar, after masonry removed. Response: See revised plans for detail to treat exposed rebar if any is found. 2. Comment: Provide Special Inspector Information for repairs required when masonry wall is removed — (110.8) Resp: According to the Florida Building Code Commission Declaratory Statement Request DS2014-061: "STRUCTURAL DETERMINATION. For purposes of this code, "structural" shall mean any part, material or assembly of a building or structure which affects the safety of such building or structure and/or which supports any dead or designed live load and the removal of which part, material or assembly could cause, or be expected to cause, all or any portion to collapse or fail." The guardrail does not fall into this definition. The lower floor levels have a metal guardrail. In our professional opinion, this project does not involve structural alteration/repairs and does not require the services of a Special Inspector. See attached declaratory statement and photo.
