Product Description
Gyproc Fireguard (Type X) Shaftliner pan-
els consist of a noncombustible gypsum
core reinforced with glass fibers and
surfaced with a light green; moisture -
resistant paper on both face and back
sides, Panels are produced only in a
1-Inch thickness, and a nominal width
of 24-inches (actual 23-7/8"). Factory
edges are beveled on both sides to
make engagement of special metal stud
tabs or flanges easier. Various lengths
up to 14-feet may be manufactured
depending upon the Intended application
orjob height requirements. (See
Product Specifications for stock and
special lengths.)
Product Uses
Shaftliner panels are designed and tested
for Use as the inner core or cavity panel
In a variety of fire -rated and non -fire -rated
systems such as Shaftwall enclosures of
elevator hoistways and vertical or hori-
zontal chases for ducts, plumbing and
mechanical services. They may also be
installed in corridor ceilings, bulkheads or
under stairs and stair landings,
These panels may also be used in the
stairwell adaptation of the Shaftwall
system which is faced on both sides
with 1/2-inch Fireguard C Gypsum
Board, This assembly has many uses
where unusual heights are required. A
design variation of the stairwall system
may be used in wood -framed, multi -family,
housing as Area Separation Walls or as
fire -rated walls up to 28-feet in height
between office and warehouse areas in
prefabricated metal structures.
Assemblies incorporating 1-inch Fireguard
ShaPolner panels have been tested in fire -
rated designs up to 3 hours endurance.
J
Shaftliner panels, because of their excellent
rigidity, fire and sound resistance, may
also be used as the core panels in solid
or seml-solid laminated assemblies and
certain proprietary demountable partitions.
NOTE: Fireguard (type n Shaftliner panels
have an improved core formulatlon that
Permits their substitution for 1-inch Regu-
lar Coreboard in those systems that were
tested using the 1-inch "Coreboard"
Product. Domtar Gypsum does not pro-
duce the non -rated "Corebcard" product
in order to eliminate the possibility of the
wrong product being used accidentally
in an assembly where the Type X product
was tested.
