RE: Finished floor waiver
Dear Mrs. Vaughn:
Please accept this letter in response to your written request received July 24, 2020 to waive the
required finished floor elevation of 18" above the crown of the adjacent road. The waiver request
is for a storage building located at Steel Blvd., Fort Pierce.
Pursuant to Section 7.04.01(C-3) of the St Lucie County Land Development Code, the Planning
and Development Services Director has the authority to grant administrative relief, when
topographical conditions are such that compliance with this subsection would be impracticable
or cause grade level conditions detrimental to adjacent or nearby property, consistent with the
intent of the Flood Protection regulations and any other applicable portion of this Code.
The Planning and Development Services Director has granted your request for administrative
relief of the finished floor elevation based on the following determinations:
1. The property is located in flood zone X.
2. The elevation of the center line of the adjacent road is 21.3 F NAVD.
3. The finished floor elevation of the existing building and the proposed storage building is
20.04' NAVD which is 1.27' below the center line of the adjacent road.
4. Changing the finished floor elevation to meet the requirements of the Code would be
impracticable and could cause grade level conditions detrimental to adjacent property and
the existing building.
This approval does not in any way constitute authorization to begin construction. Prior to the
commencement of any construction on this property, an application for specific building permit
must be obtained from this department.

Please accept this letter, formally requesting Relief of Code concerning the floor
.Zeight of the added storage building located at 5300 Steel Blvd (D&D Welding &
Fabrication, LLC) the floor height is at 20.04 feet, based on SLC the finished floor
Should be at 22.53 feet. The 20.04 height matches the existing metal building.
