performance bonds, fines and all other items as required for the installation of
the complete compressed air systems, and shall be responsible for obtaining
his own permit.
3 – Contractor shall provide all required insurance for protection against public
liability and property damage for the duration of work.
4 – Except where longer warranties are specified for specific equipment,
contractor shall warrant all work to be free of defects in workmanship and
materials for a period of one year after final written acceptance of the project
by the owner.
5 – Provide all necessary instructions to the owner in the operation of the
compressed air system before final acceptance.
6 – Provide one set of bound and labeled equipment maintenance and
instruction manuals.
7 – Submit shop drawings for all materials and equipment for acceptance of
owner before proceeding with the purchase or installation of any equipment
and materials, as requested by owner.
8 – Ensure all equipment is labeled and identified by manufacturer, submit
identification information to the owner.
9 – Products and materials specified by trade name and / or model on the
drawings establish a standard of quality, appearance, performance and
dimensions. Contractor shall base his bid on those items, which shall be
considered to establish a standard basis of bidding. Requests for substitution
shall be submitted in writing to the architect / engineer demonstrating that
proposed product is comparable, and that the basic design, construction
standards, quality and warranties are equal or better than the product
specified. Contractor shall be responsible for any change in the work required
by other trades and shall pay for any expenses incurred due to the contractor’s
request for revisions or substitutions.
10 – Contractor shall maintain a set of drawings at the project site with up to
date information on as-built conditions indicating with colored pens all changes
and deviations from contract drawings. This sett of prints shall be turned over
to the owner at the completion of the project as a pre-requisite for final
payment.
11 – Provide all new materials. Provide supplemental material not specifically
noted herein, but required to complete the installation in accordance with the
intent of the contract drawings, at no additional cost to the owner.
12 – All work shall be field checked before installation and coordinated with all
other trades. The contract drawings are diagrammatic and intended to depict
approximate equipment locations and arrangements, not show any minor
detail. Plans shall not be scaled: Refer to the drawings for dimensions.
13 – Offset piping as required to clear building structure, ductowrk, etc. as
shown on drawings and as required by field coordination.
14 – Compressed Air Contractor shall verify all space conditions and
dimensions at job site prior to fabrication and installation of materials and
equipment. Verify all voltages with the owner prior to ordering any equipment.
15 – Furnish and install compressed air fixtures as specified on drawings.
16 – Provide compressed air piping as follows:
A – Compressed air piping
Header Piping – Header piping can be aluminum, galvanized
iron, or black iron as specified by contract drawings, or as
agreed to with owner.
Supply Side (compressor) Piping – Supply side piping can be
Aluminum, galvanized iron, black iron or stainless steel as
specified by contract drawings, or as agreed to with the owner.
Flexible connections can be made with stainless steel flexible
hoses, or rubber hoses and applicable hose barbs.
B – Condensate drains
Condensate drain piping can be aluminum, galvanized iron,
black iron, PVC, or poly tubing as specified by contract drawings,
or as agreed to with the owner.
17 – Valves
A – Smaller than 3"; Brass body, full port, blowout-proof
stem, class 150 or better, or as provided by aluminum pipe
manufacturer, working pressure of 200psi or greater.
B - 3" and larger – flanged ends, iron body, bronze or stainless steel
trim, class 150 or better, or as provided by aluminum pipe
manufacturer, working pressure of 200psi or greater.
18 – Hang piping from structure utilizing galvanized hangers rods and trapeze
or clevis / loop hangers. For copper piping, rods and hangers shall be copper
clad. Pipe hangers provided by aluminum pipe manufacture will be used in
place of clevis / loop hangers for aluminum pipe.
19 – Attach piping to walls of structure utilizing unistrut or equivalent and EMT
style clamps. Pipe hangers provided by aluminum pipe manufacturer may be
attached to unistrut or directly to structure.
20 – Compressed air piping test: Subject the entire system to a pneumatic test
pressure of no less than 150 psi for a period of two hours without loss in
pressure.
21 – Test all equipment to demonstrate proper functioning and capacity.
22 – Provide shock absorbers, dielectric fittings, hangers and inserts, trap re -
sealers, vacuum breakers, gauge and thermometers, strainers, valves, etc., for
complete and operable compressed air systems as required by code and as
indicated on plans. Provide unions and flanges at connections to equipment for
easy maintenance and dismantling.
