Attached is an engineering design drawing of a Typical framework for this boat cover system. We have performed an analytical evaluation and determined that this boat -cover system is capable of withstanding wind pressures from 90 mph wind speeds at exposure category D, in accordance with ASCE7-10 and the 2017 Florida Building Code. At this design wind condition, the aluminum tubular frame and key post -bracket connections will not fail. At higher wind speeds, the tubular frame may deform, but all of the key connections and the post -bracket connections will secure the frame and canopy system to the dock posts at wind speeds up to 160 mph (ultimate or basic wind speed), exposure category D. Alternatively, if the boat -cover is removed prior to 90 mph, the tubular frame will not deform but resist the 160 mph (ultimate or basic wind speed), exposure category D and remain in the allowable elastic condition. PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT SERVICES BUILDING & CODE REGULATIONS DIVISION Marine Construction Checklist c` COUNTY F t O R 1 O A Marine construction includes, but is not limited to, new construction, repair, or expansion of seawalls, bulkheads, revetments, riprap, docks, piers, wharfs, groins, and other marine structures including pile driving and dredging. When you submit your building pemrit application for any type of marine construction, you should use the following checklist to determine if your application submittal is complete. Only complete applications can be accepted for processing. Building Permit 1 ✓ You must submit a completed building permit Application application, including all required information and enclosed forms. The application must be signed and notarized. Notice of Commencement 1 A recorded Notice of Commencement for all v construction with a value exceeding $2,500 has to be submitted at time of building permit application. Construction Plans 2 sets All proposed construction must be accurately shown on the plans including but not limited to electrical wiring and plumbing. The minimum plot size for these plans is 18 by 24 inches - maximum size is 24 by 36 inches. Both sets most be signed and sealed by a Florida registered engineer or Architect. Statutes: Exemot Activities 62-330.051(5)b, F.A.C. Installation of private docks, piers, and recreational docking facilities, and installation of local governmental piers and recreational docking facilities, in accordance with section 403.813(1)(b), F.S. This includes associated structures such as boat shelters, boat lifts, and roofs, provided: 1. The cumulative square footage of the dock or pier and all associated structures located over wetlands and other surface waters does not exceed the limitations in section 403.813(1)(b), F.S.; The dock is 7.2' by 76.5' fora total of 550.80' New canopy is 396.90'. The two together is 947.70 square feet. 2. No structure is enclosed on more than three sides with walls and doors; There are no walls or doors just a canvas that covers the boat. 3. The installation and repair of mooring pilings and dolphins associated with private docking facilities or piers and the installation of private docks, piers and recreational docking facilities, or piers and recreational docking facilities of local governmental entities when the local governmental entity's activities will not take place in any manatee habitat, any of which docks: 1. Has 500 square feet or less of over -water surface area for a dock which is located in an area designated as Outstanding Florida Waters or 1,000 square feet or less of over -water surface area for a dock which is located in an area which is not designated as Outstanding FloridaWaters;Total 988.80 square feet 2. Is constructed on or held in place by pilings or is a Floating dock which is constructed so as not to involve filling or dredging other than that necessary to install the pilings; 3. Shall not substantially impede the flow of water or create a navigational hazard; It will not obstruct the waterway. 4. Is used for recreational, noncommercial activities associated with the mooring or storage of boats and boat paraphernalia; and S. Is the sole dock constructed pursuant to this exemption as measured along the shoreline for a distance of 65 feet, unless the parcel of land or individual lot as platted is less than 65 feet in length along the shoreline, in which case there may be one exempt dock allowed per parcel or lot. Nothing in this paragraph shall prohibit the department from taking appropriate enforcement action pursuant to this chapter to abate or prohibit any activity otherwise exempt from permitting pursuant to this paragraph if the department can demonstrate that the exempted activity has caused water pollution in violation of this chapter.
