3. DUCTS IN THE GARAGE AND DUCTS PENETRATING THE WALLS OR
CEILINGS SEPARATING THE DWELLING FROM THE GARAGE SHALL
BE CONSTRUCTED OF A MIN. #26 GAUGE (0.48 mm) SHEET STEEL OR
OTHER APPROVED MATERIAL AND SHALL HAVE NO OPENINGS INTO
THE GARAGE.
4. FOUNDATIONS AND SUPPORTS FOR OUTDOOR MECHANICAL
SYSTEMS SHALL BE RAISED AT LEAST 3 INCHES (76 mm) ABOVE
THE FINISHED GRADE AND SHALL ALSO CONFORM TO THE
MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
5. AUXILIARY DRAIN PAN. CATEGORY IV CONDENSING
APPLIANCES SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH AN AUXILIARY DRAIN
PAN WHERE DAMAGE TO ANY BUILDING COMPONENT WILL
OCCUR AS A RESULT OF STOPPAGE IN THE CONDENSATE DRAIN
PIPING SYSTEM. THESE PANS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPLICABLE PROVISIONS OF SECTIONS
M1411.3.

1. OUTDOOR DISCHARGE. THE AIR REMOVED BY EVERY
MECHANICAL EXHAUST SYSTEM SHALL BE DISCHARGED TO THE
OUTDOORS. AIR SHALL NOT BE EXHAUSTED INTO AN ATTIC,
SOFFIT, RIDGE VENT OR CRAWL SPACE.
2. EXHAUST AIR FROM BATH ROOMS AND TOILET ROOMS SHALL
NOT BE RECIRCULATED WITHIN A RESIDENCE OR TO ANOTHER
DWELLING UNIT AND SHALL BE EXHAUSTED DIRECTLY TO THE
OUTDOORS. EXHAUST AIR FROM BATHROOMS AND TOILET ROOMS
SHALL NOT DISCHARGE INTO AN ATTIC, CRAWL SPACE, OR OTHER
AREAS INSIDE THE BUILDING.
3. DUCT LENGTH : THE MAXIMUM LENGTH OF A CLOTHES: DRYER
EXHAUST DUCT SHALL NOT EXCEED 35 FEET . THE DRYER LOCATION
TO THE WALL OR ROOF TERMINATION. THE MAXIMUM LENGTH OF
THE DUCT SHALL BE REDUCED 2.5 FEET (762 mm) FOR EACH 45
DEGREE (0.79 RAD) BEND AND 5 FEET (1524 mm) FOR EACH 90 DEGREE
(1.6 RAD) BEND. THE MAXIMUM LENGTH OF THE EXHAUST DUCT
DOES NOT INCLUDE THE TRANSITION DUCT. EXCEPTION - WHERE A
CLOTHES DRYER BOOSTER FAN IS INSTALLED AND LISTED AND
LABELED FOR THE APPLICATION, THE MAXIMUM LENGTH OF THE
EXHAUST DUCT, INCLUDING ANY TRANSITION DUCT, SHALL BE
PERMITTED TO BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BOOSTER FAN
MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. WHERE A
CLOTHES DRYER BOOSTER FAN IS INSTALLED AND NOT READILY
ACCESSIBLE FROM THE ROOM IN WHICH THE DRYER IS LOCATED, A
PERMANENT IDENTIFYING LABEL SHALL BE PLACED ADJACENT TO
WHERE THE EXHAUST DUCT ENTERS THE WALL. THE LABEL SHALL
BEAR THE WORDS "THIS DRYER EXHAUST SYSTEM IS EQUIPPED
WITH A REMOTELY LOCATED BOOSTER FAN."
4. PROVIDE LOUVER DEVICES AT INTAKE AND
EXHAUST LOCATIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH
AMCA STANDARD 550 IN FBC.
: ISSUANCE OF
PLANS FROM THIS OFFICE SHALL NOT RELIEVE THE BUILDER OF
RESPONSIBILITY TO REVIEW AND VERIFY ALL NOTES, DIMENSIONS,
AND ADHERENCE TO APPLICABLE BUILDING CODES PRIOR TO
COMMENCEMENT OF ANY CONSTRUCTION. ANY DISCREPANCY OF
ERROR IN NOTES, DIMENSIONS, OR ADHERENCE TO APPLICABLE

CLEAR OPENING OF 5 SQ FT.
MAXIMUM HEIGHT FROM FLOOR :
EMERGENCY ESCAPE AND RESCUE OPENINGS SHALL HAVE THE
BOTTOM OF THE CLEAR OPENING NOT GREATER THAN 44 INCHES
MEASURED FROM THE FLOOR.
2. OPERATIONAL CONSTRAINTS :
EMERGENCY ESCAPE AND RESCUE OPENINGS SHALL BE
OPERATIONAL FROM THE INSIDE OF THE ROOM WITHOUT THE USE
OF KEYS OR TOOLS. BARS, GRILLES, GRATES OR SIMILAR DEVICES
ARE PERMITTED TO BE PLACED OVER EMERGENCY ESCAPE AND
RESCUE OPENINGS PROVIDED THE MINIMUM NET CLEAR OPENING
SIZE COMPLIES WITH SECTION 1030.4 AND SUCH DEVICES SHALL
BE RELEASABLE OR REMOVABLE FROM THE INSIDE WITHOUT THE
USE OF A KEY, TOOL OR FORCE GREATER THAN THAT WHICH IS
REQUIRED FOR NORMAL OPERATION OF THE ESCAPE AND RESCUE
OPENING.
3. FALL PROTECTION :
WHERE THE OPENING OF THE SILL PORTION OF AN OPERABLE
WINDOW IS LOCATED MORE THAN 72 INCHES (1829 MM) ABOVE
THE FINISHED GRADE OR OTHER SURFACE BELOW, THE LOWEST
PART OF THE CLEAR OPENING OF THE WINDOW SHALL BE AT A
HEIGHT NOT LESS THAN 24 INCHES (610 MM) ABOVE THE FINISHED
FLOOR SURFACE OF THE ROOM IN WHICH THE WINDOW IS
LOCATED. GLAZING BETWEEN THE FLOOR AND A HEIGHT OF 24
INCHES (610 MM) SHALL BE FIXED OR HAVE OPENINGS THROUGH
WHICH A 4-INCH (102 MM) DIAMETER SPHERE CANNOT PASS.
EXCEPTION: OPENINGS THAT ARE PROVIDED WITH WINDOW
GUARDS THAT COMPLY WITH ASTM F 2006 OR F 2090.

PER SECTION R302.5, R302.6, OPENING PROTECTION
1. OPENINGS FROM A PRIVATE GARAGE DIRECTLY INTO A ROOM
USED FOR SLEEPING PURPOSES SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED.
OPENINGS BETWEEN THE GARAGE AND RESIDENCE SHALL BE
EQUIPPED WITH SOLID OR HONYCOMB CORE STEEL AND NOT LESS
THAN 1 3/8", 20 MINUTE RATED, WITH SELF CLOSER.
2. THE GARAGE SHALL BE SEPARATED FROM THE RESIDENCE AND
ITS ATTIC AREA BY NOT LESS THAN 1/2" GYPSUM BOARD APPLIED
TO THE GARAGE SIDE. GARAGES BENEATH HABITABLE ROOMS
ABOVE BY NOT LESS THAN 5/8" TYPE "X" GYPSUM BOARD OR
EQUIVALENT.

THE MAXIMUM RISER HEIGHT SHALL BE 7.75" AND THE MINIMUM
TREAD DEPTH SHALL BE 10". THE TREAD DEPTH SHALL BE
MEASURED HORIZONTALLY BETWEEN THE VERTICAL PLANES OF
THE FOREMOST PROJECTION OF THE ADJACENT TREADS AND AT A
RIGHT ANGLE TO THE TREADS LEADING EDGE. THE MINIMUM
WINDER TREAD DEPTH AT THE WALK LINE SHALL BE 10", AND THE
