Dear Mr. Gilmour:
For the above address, the (3) replaced PGT Industries single hung windows, Series SH-5500; (2) sliding glass
doors, Series 5570 and (1) picture window, Series 5520, the minimum required wind pressures below are based
on FBC 2017 wind load calculations. The applied wind pressures are as follows per the proposed replacement
glazed unit for Exposure D, with heights per below and respective NOA’s: 20-0401.03; 17-0420.06; 20-
0401.16:
Series: Door or Window: Height Wind Zone: Applied Wind Pressure:
SGD-5570 141.75”x79.75” 20 ft 4 +42.2 / -45.8 psf
SH-5500 25.25”x37” 20 ft 4 +48.5 / -51.3 psf;
SGD-5570 141.75”x79.75” 30 ft 4 +45.2 / -49.0 psf
PW-5520 52.7”x24.75” 30 ft 4 +52.0 / -55.0 psf
SH-5500 35.9”x24.75” 30 ft 4 +52.3 / -55.3 psf
SH-5500 24.5”x24.5” 30 ft 4 +53.1 / -56.1 psf
The mullion joining the SH-5500 and PW-5520, by PGT Industries, NOA 20-0406.03 tributary loading meets
above applied presuures tranfered from those windows.
Also, PW-5520 must have glass with a minimum air space of 7/16”only to meet these pressures.
In reviewing respective NOA for the above windows, the calculated respective design pressures are less than
the respective allowable pressures, and as such are acceptable to this office.
