Re: Hueck Residence, 2926 S. Header Canal Rd. Fort Pierce, FL 34945
Permit #2007-0678
Dear Mrs. Olson,
I am writing this letter on behalf of my clients, Christie and Diederich Hueck who are building a new
single family home with my company, Cole Construction Services, at 2926 S. Header Canal Rd. Based on
chapter 7.04.01 from the SLC Land Development Code I am hoping that you as the planning director can
provide my clients some relief from their situation.
My request is to reduce the finished floor elevation (FFE) of their new home. Basically S. Header Canal
Rd centerline is at elevation 24.03. Based on this number it would put my clients FFE of their home at a
minimum if 25.53. The natural elevation of the property is around 20.40. This would mean my client
would have to bring in over 5’ of fill just for their house pad, not including the surround area and
driveway leading up to their house. This is also located on 5 acres of land so as you can imagine this
would cost a fortune to bring up to that grade which is just not practical. The dirt road that runs parallel
to Header Canal is the egress and ingress for these folks that own property in this area. That elevation of
the dirt road is averaging around 21.5. I know the code states that the FFE must me 18” above the
crown of the nearest road. My proposal is to set the finished floor elevation at 24.40 as discussed.
Please take a minute to review these numbers and hopefully this is something you can make happen for
my clients, they would be forever grateful! Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing
from you soon.
Sincerely,
Jared Modine
