In this case the enclosed area below the flood elevation is only the garage which is 540 s.f. as per the plans we are providing (2) 16x16 stacked SmartVent Units at opposite ends of the garage which will accommodate 400 sq. ft. each, the garage door provided on a separate wall will accommodate a additional 90 sq. ft. So we will be providing relief to accommodate a total area of-890 sq. ft., we have also provided (3) separate vent locations. This exceeds the requirements set forth in R322.2.2, please review and confirm to make sure we are on the right path and don't have any issues. I have attached a copy of the plan (as originally submitted) and documentation on the SmartVent for reference. Response: Please see enclosed product approval for the garage doors. This has been submitted to you by Ryan Slattery, via email and phone conversations and we have agreed this product shall be acceptable. Per the door manufacturer venting data provided and combined with the wall flood vent modification, it was agreed this product meets requirements for flood venting. We also coordinated with the structural engineer and re-evaluated the pressures required for this opening submitted on the "Certification for Design Load Compliance". After re- evaluating, it was determined the required pressures were incorrect(too high)and were similar to the original values calculated and provided in the Opening Design Pressure Chart provided on sheets A-3&A-4. Result of the complete product/design evaluation is the door originally called for per our plans is sufficient. Please also see our revised Certification for Design Load Compliance form with corrected garage door pressures. Our original plans already called for this particular door to be used. In addition and as agreed, we have modified the balance of the flood vents on the wall as shown on revised sheets A-1 and A-4. We now provide for three (3)separate 16"x 8"Smart Vents along the South wall of the garage. 5. Comment: Flood vents located onlyon one wall. .There shall be a minimum of two openings on different sides of each enclosed area. See Section R322.2.2 subsection 2.1 of the 2014 FBC—Residential code. We now provide for three(3)separate 16"x 8"Smart Vents along the South wall of the garage. Please also see revised sheet S-4 for structural openings. 6. Comment: Garage NOA for the garage door design pressure is lower than the design pressure specified on plans for the design criteria. See Section 301.2.(2)of the 2014 FBC —Residential code. Response: Per response in Item 4 above, we had the structural engineer re-evaluate the pressures required for this opening submitted on the "Certification for Design Load Compliance". After re-evaluating, it was determined the required pressures were incorrect(too high)and were similar to the original values calculated and provided in the Opening Design Pressure Chart provided on sheets A-3&A-4. Result of the complete product/design evaluation is the door originally called for per our plans is sufficient. Please also see our revised Certification for Design Load Compliance form with corrected garage door pressures. 7.
