COMPONENT CRITERIA CHECK
Air barrier and thermal barrier A continuous air barrier shall be installed in the building envelope.
Exterior thermal envelope contains a continuous barrier.
Breaks or joints in the air barrier shall be sealed.
Air-permeable insulation shall not be used as a sealing-material.
Ceiling/attic The air barrier in any dropped ceiling/soffit shall'be aligned with the
insulation and any gaps in the air barrier shall be sealed.
Access openings,drop down stairs or knee wall doors to unconditioned
attic spaces shall be sealed.
Comers and headers shall be insulated and the junction of the foundation
Walls and sill plate shall be sealed.
The junction of the top plate and the top or exterior walls shall be sealed.
Exterior thermal envelope insulation for framed walls shall be installed in
substantial contact and continuous alignment with the air barrier.

Crawl space walls Where provided in lieu of floor insulation,insulation shall be permanently
attached:to the crawlspace walls.
Exposed earth in unvented crawl spaces shall be covered with a Class I
vapor retarder with overlapping joints taped.
Shafts, penetrations Duct shafts, utility penetrations,and flue shaft openings to exterior or
unconditioned space shall be sealed.
Narrow cavities Batts in narrow cavities shall be cut to fit,or narrow cavities shall be filled
by insulation that on installation readily conforms to the available cavity
spaces.
Garage Separation Air sealing shall be provided between the garage and conditioned spaces.
Recessed lighting Recessed light fixtures installed in the building thermal envelope shall be
air tight, IC rated,and sealed to the drywall.
Plumbing and wiring Batt insulation shall be cut neatly to fit around wiring and plumbing in
exterior wails,or insulation that on installation readily conforms to available
space shall extend behind piping and wiring.
Shower/tub on exterior wall Exterior walls adjacent to showers and tubs shall be insulated and the air

This letter is to summarize the structural repair for the damaged pre-fabricated wood truss located at
the 7404 James Road Residence. Truss bottom chord was damaged and requires a material repair
for the truss to have adequate structural integrity as originally designed.
Truss bottom chord spanning approximately 22' long was broken at approximately 6'40" from one
end. Bottom.chord is constructed of 2x4 lumber. Conservative loading assumptions were made in
order to adequately provide a sufficient repair as noted below.
Truss is to be repaired by applying 2x4 SP No. 2 Scabs to both faces of the truss centered over the
r damage. Scabs are to be 6' in length nailed to the truss with (0.131"x3") nails 2 rows @ 4" o.c.
from front and back faces creating a net spacing of 2" into the truss. Use 2" member end distance
(see attached for truss repair drawing and photos).
