SUBJECT: In-Progress & Final Inspection of Asphalt Shingles Roof Covering ADDRESS: RODRIGUEZ Residence /615 Beach Av., Port St Lucie, FL 34952 CONTRACTOR: Code Red Roofers, Inc. PERMIT#: SLC 1703-0519 Dear Sir; The re-nailing of existing plywood deck, installation of roof underlayments and roof metals of the subject residence are inspected by myself, during their in-progress and final stages. The purpose of this inspection was to determine the level of code conformance for asphalt shingles roof coverings. The one-story-high roof is in wind Exposure D area, has gable configuration and 3/12 slope. Based on careful inspections, conducted on the roof, the following are observed: A) The existing 19/32" CDX plywood deck is properly re-nailed using 8d ring-shanked nails to measure 6" o.c. in field and 4" o.c. in perimeter/corner zones. B) The roof deck is dried-in using Polyglass IR-X (#FL5259) self-adhering underlayment installed and back-nailed using 11 ga 11/4" ring-shanked nails w/ tin- tags spaced at 12" o.c. C) All 26 ga. 2"x2" galvanized drip edge and 3"x5" wall flashing metals are overlapped a min. of 4" and installed using 11 ga. 1-1/4" MDA approved roofing nails spaced at 4" o.c. and primed. D) The exposure and course layout of asphalt shingles conform to Tamko "Heritage" (#FL18355-R3) asphalt shingles. The asphalt shingles are fastened using six (6) 12 ga. 1'/4" long roofing nails. Therefore, this letter is to certify that re-nailing of existing roof deck, installation of self- adhered underlayment and installation of Tamko "Heritage" (#FL18355-R3) asphalt shingles of subject roof are completed conforming to requirements of 2014 Florida Building Code which specifies 165 MPH (ultimate) wind speed, for Risk Category II in Exposure D area. The purpose of this letter is to verify roof pressures and enhanced spacing of mechanical fasteners. Based on careful inspections conducted in attic space and on top of roof, the following are observed; 1) Subject flat roof takes place in Exposure D area at mean roof height of 15 ft. The roof consisted of 19/32" CDX plywood deck and has positive drainage. The plywood deck is re-nailed using 8d ring-shanked nails to measure 6" o.c. in field, and 4" o.c. in perimeter and corner zones. 2) Roof design pressures, as per 2014 Florida Building Code, ASCE 7-10, 170 MPH ultimate wind velocity, Risk Category II and Exposure D, using Wind Load Factor of 0.6 for ASD; are determined as follows: Field Pi = -52 psf / Perimeter (4' wide) Pi= -87 psf / Corner (4'x4') P3= -131 psf. 3) Polyglass Modified Bitumen Roof System over Wood Decks (#FL1654-R21) consisted of mechanically attached Polyglass Elastobase base sheet, followed by all self-adhering Polyglass SAN ply sheet and Polyglass Elastoflex SA-P cap sheet. 4) The max. design pressure of-60 psf(Table 1F-1,.Non-Insulated,Wood Deck, Syst.Type E, Syst.#W-106, Limitation as per Note#8, pg. 18/56), is specified by tin-tagging the base sheet with 11 ga.X1%11 ring-shanked nails, spaced at 8" o.c. along laps and 8" o.c., staggered three rows in mid-sheet. 5) It is observed that, in order to meet the actual roof pressures and as per RAS 117, the spacing of tin-tags are enhanced as follows: Zone 1: Field (Intermediate areas): @ 8" o.c., three staggered rows in mid-sheet Zone 2: Perimeter (4' from edges): @ 6" o.c., three staggered rows in mid-sheet Zone 3: Corner (4' from ea. side): @ 4 o.c., four staggered rows in mid-sheet Laps: Min. 4" Field @ 8" o.c., Perimeter @ 6" o.c., & Corners @ 4" o.c.
