HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE_ Permit Extension 1905-0167The last inspections on this project were July 28. 2020 for insulation and then on November 25, 2020 for temporary power. This indicates the drywall is complete and the electrical is trimmed out. This permit is not set to expire until May 25, 2021. That is about 4 months away. You are still required to have an inspection every 180 days. How about if we see what progress can be made between now and May before discussing an extension? In the meantime, Melissa, please attach this email to the permit file so there is a record of this discussion. The effects of COVID-19 have touched every aspect of this project, as I’m sure the County is feeling the strain as well. This permit is for a large custom home, roughly 11,000 sqft. These caliber of homes typically have a lot of products custom made which originate around the globe, as do most products the construction industry uses. Even though we have been pushing our suppliers and sub-contractors there is only so much we can expect from our people during a world wide pandemic. Products are taking longer to get and longer to install as we are trying to keep safe distances for all people on the job site. Knowing items were going to take longer to get, we ordered items months ahead of when we would normally order them, and they are still not here. Obviously, we would like to complete the job sooner; however, to some degree our hands are tied by manufacturing and distribution constraints. As well, keeping safe working distances for all Subcontractors on the job is important for all of us to maintain. Since there is no way for us to predict a timeline during the pandemic, I requested a permit extension via Florida Statute 252.363 which grants an automatic extension to all building permits equal to the time of the executive order plus 6 months. I figured this would be the quickest and easiest way for you to approve the additional time. The statute extension will extend the permit expiration to January 25, 2022.
