Pool Fencing for resistance to lateral pressures on Vertical Post Supports. The test specimens consisted of (48) inch x V diameter high removable aluminum pole sections Into 1 1/4" x 10" polypropylene sleeves drilled into concrete paver tiles. The section tested measured thirty-six (36) inches high from the top of the. paved deck and had a horizontal spacing of thirty-six (36) inches, The representative samples were installed as per the "Florida Residential Building Code" section R4101.17.1.11 through R4101.17.1.15 and Florida Statue 515.29 which states: Vertical posts of the child mesh safety barrier shall extend a minimum of three (3) inches below the deck and be spaced no greater than thirty-six (36) inches apart. At the time of testing, a lateral force was applied to a single post at a measurement of thirty-six (36) from the surface of the deck. The resistance to lateral pressures was found to exceed 70 Pounds of pressure before failure on any single post In a free standing installation. Conclusion: The products tested were found to exceed the required 52lbs. of horizontal force measured at 36" prescribed by the Florida Building Code section R4.101.17.1.15 Paragraph 1.
