Specifically, MI Windows and Doors CM-18531 and CM-18532 mullions used on various GRBK GHO Homes, LLC projects. This report presents the calculation of mullion reactions for various size windows and design pressures as supplied by Manning Building Supply. Connection methods between the horizontal and vertical intersecting mullions are proposed and validated for the calculated mullion reactions. Referenced standards utilized for this project include: Florida Building Code, Building, 6rh Edition (2017). International Code Council, 2017. ADM 1-2015 2015Aluminum Design Manual. The Aluminum Association, Inc., 2015. AAMA TIR A9-14 Design Guide for Metal Cladding Fasteners. American Architectural Manufacturers Association, 2014. The analyses presented herein consider only the structural capacities of the mullion connections. The ability of the proposed connection methods to resist air infiltration, water infiltration, water penetration, windborne debris impact, thermal effects or fire is not within the scope of the analyses. This report does not evaluate the windows, window installations, mullions or mullion installation to the building substrate. Mullion reactions for the design pressures supplied by Manning Building Supply are calculated on page 9. A summary of the calculated mullion reactions is presented in Table 1. The connection between the horizontal mullion and the bottom vertical mullion shall be designed for this load. The maximum mullion reaction for the top vertical mullion is 34 lb. The connection between the horizontal mullion and the top vertical mullion shall be designed for this load. Mullion Connection Analysis The proposed connections between the intersecting mullions are evaluated for fastener shear capacity and allowable bearing stress between the fasteners and the components of the connection. Calculations are presented on page 10 to page 11 and summarized in Table 2.
