Tank Construction - The tank and the primary containment must be constructed in accordance with the Standard Specification for Polyethylene Upright Storage Tanks, ASTM D 1998-91. 3. Block Base - The concrete block base is to be constructed using standard concrete block laid in an interlocking pattern without mortar. If the block base is inside of the containment, the blocks will be laid with 3/8 inch wide vertical joints. A cushioning layer of 30# roofing felt will be placed between the plywood and the tank. 4. Soil Pressure - The soil pressure beneath the largest filled tank and block base is approximately 980 psf. The bottom of the polyethylene containment can safely withstand the pressures from the filled tank and block base. 6. Ventilation - For indoor installations, mechanical ventilation is required to provide at least 6 air changes per hour, and tanks must be vented to the exterior. Vent pipe cannot discharge where vapor may endanger persons or animals. 7. The tank installation must comply with all requirements of the applicable Building Code, Fire Protection Code, County and State Regulations. INSTALLATION NOTES A B C D E F G A B C A B C D E Concrete block, stacked in an interlocked wall pattern is acceptable. Plywood platforms must be covered with a chemical resistant coating or roofing felt. Bleach tanks must be capped with lids. The tank must have a main valve, plumbed with Schedule 80 PVC Pipe, to act as a main shut-off. A secondary valve at the dispensing end of the hose is required. The tank connector shall be designed to withstand accidental pull off from tension (due to human error). Access to copious amounts of water, as well as an emergency shower and eyewash must be available for washing. Safety goggles and chemical resistant gloves must be available in the immediate area for use during emergency periods. All Tanks must be properly labeled. vandalism. 2.0 Site Maintenance and Inspection Site personel shall be responsible for DAILY inspection of foundation integrity and plumbing system to assure all hoses, valves and clamps are in good condition. All signs, labels and safety items shall also be inspected daily for condition and/or accessibility. Producer's Delivery Truck Driver shall be responsible for inspection of same items as indicated in 2.0 A (above)PRIOR to making each delivery of product. Producer shall provide a "An Inspection" by salesperson or other designated management personnel of same items as indicated in 2.0 A (above) at least once per year. 3.0 Personnel Training "Safety Data Sheets" (SDS) shall be maintained on site and provided to all employees handling the product. Site shall provide TRAINING in the following areas to all applicable employees: 1. It is the Dealers responsibility to request training sessions for their personnel 2. Recognition of SYMBOLS 3. HAZARDS training and EMERGENCY procedures 4. SAFETY procedures 5. Proper housekeeping procedures A list of EMERGENCY PROCEDURES must be posted at the site. Dealer is responsible for having proper NEUTRALIZING chemicals on the site to cover accidental spills. Dealer should give notice to appropriate local Fire Department regarding both type and quantity of bleach normally on site. The CHEMTREC Emergency Phone Number shall be available at the site to assist the Fire Department during an emergency (800-424-9300). STORAGE SITE REQUIREMENTS 1.0 Tank Requirements Tank Storage area shall be properly secured with fences and/or locking systems to protect against Volume of block base is based on the following: A solid block 7 5/8" x 7 5/8" x 15 5/8" weighs 76 lbs. and displaces 0.5257 cu. ft. or 3.93 gals.
