REMOVE LOOSE OR DELAMINATED CONCRETE ABOVE DAMAGED OR OXIDIZED REINFORCING STEEL ONCE INITIAL REMOVALS ARE MADE, PROCEED WITH THE UNDERCUTTING OF ALL EXPOSED OXIDIZED (CORRODED) BARS. UNDERCUTTING WILL PROVIDE CLEARANCE FOR UNDER BAR CLEANING, FULL BAR CIRCUMFERENCE BONDING TO SURROUNDING CONCRETE, AND WILL SECURE THE PATCH STRUCTURALLY. 5. 6. 7 PROVIDE MINIMUM 3/4' CLEARANCE BETWEEN EXPOSED REBARS AND SURROUNDING CONCRETE OR 1/4' LARGER THAN LARGEST AGGREGATE IN REPAIR MORTAR, WHICH EVER IS GREATER. CONCRETE REMOVAL SHALL EXTEND ALONG THE BARS TO LOCATIONS ALONG THE BAR FREE OF BOND INHIBITING COROSION, AND WHERE THE BAR IS WELL BONDED TO SURROUNDING CONCRETE. MINIMUM EXPOSURE OF CLEAN STEEL IS 2' OF BAR. IF UNOXIDIZED REINFORCING STEEL IS EXPOSED DURING THE UNDERCUTTING PROCESS, CARE SHALL BE TAKEN NOT TO DAMAGE THE BAR'S BOND TO SURROUNDING CONCRETE. IF BOND BETWEEN BAR AND CONCRETE IS BROKEN, UNDERCUTTING OF THE BAR SHALL BE REQUIRED. APPLICABLE TO HYDRODEMOLITON, HYDROMIWNG, PNEUMATIC, HYDRAULIC AND ELECTRIC BREAKERS. APPILCABLE TO HORZ., VERT AND OVERHEAD LOCATIONS 9. SANDBLAST STEEL REINFORCEMENT TO REMOVE BOND INHIBITING MATERIALS SUCH AS RUST. IF THE REINFORCEMENT BAR'S CROSS —SECTIONAL AREA HAS BEEN DIMINISHED BY 15% OR MORE, THE BAR WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. MINIMUM LAP DISTANCE IS 40 TIMES THE BAR DIAMETER. WHERE UNABLE TO LAP THE FULL DISTANCE, REBAR MAY BE DOWLED A MINIMUM OF 4' INTO SOUND CONCRETE WITH EPDXY. 10. AT EDGE LOCATIONS PROVIDE APPROVED RIGHT ANGLE CUTS. AVOID FEATHERED EDGES. EDGE PREPERATION GUIDELINES PATCH CONFIGURATIONS SHOULD BE KEPT AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE. FOR EXAMPLE: PREFERED PREFERED 11. AFTER REMOVALS AND EDGE CONDITIONING ARE COMPLETE, REMOVE BOND INHIBITING MATERIALS (DIRT, CONCRETE SLURRY, LOSELY BONDED AGGREGATES). CHECK THE SURFACES AFTER CLEANING TO ENSURE THAT SURFACE IS FREE FROM ADDITIONAL LOOSE AGGREGATE, OR THAT ADDITIONAL DELAMINAMONS ARE NOT PRESENT. 12. PRIME AREAS TO RECEIVE REPAIR MORTAR WITH BONDING AGENT PER SPECIFICATION. 13. PATCHING MATERIAL TO BE POLYMER MODIFIED REPAIR MORTAR PER SPECIFICATION. 8.
