Filing this application does not result in an authorization to commence any vegetation removal or alteration, A Site
Plan/Constrnction Plan most be provided (in addition to the site plan provided to the Building Department) the plans must
accuratefv depict the location of all proposed buildings, structures. drivewa}s, septic tanks. and other improvements.

Per Section 1 L05.06 b. 6. of the St. Lucie County Land Development Code. the filing of an application shall he deemed to extend
permission to the Environmental Resources Director. or designee. to inspect the subject site for purposes of evaluating the application.

PART I - EXEMPTION
Any person who intends to remove or cause the death of am vegetation pursuant to am of the following exemptions must
first fill out Part I of this form. f he burden of proving entitlement to an} particular exemption shall lie, at all times. w ith the
person or persons claiming the exemption.

*No application, approval, or fees are required for removal of a hazardous tree on residential property if
the property owner obtains documentation from an arborist certified by the International Society of
Arboriculture or a Florida licensed landscape architect that the tree presents a danger to persons or
property.

1.09,00 of the St. Lucie County Land Development Code:

conservation areas and preserves. The purpose of the vegetation removal activity shall be to protect and
preserve the natural values and functions ofthe ecological communities present. such as, clearing for
firebreaks, conducting prescribed bums- or construction Offences.

demonstrating that at least one ofthe follo%%ing criteria has been satisficd:

ADDITIONAL SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS FOR VEGETATION REMOVAL PERMITS:
2. Site Plan/Construction Plan (in addition to the site plan provided to the Building Department)
The plans must accuratel} depict the location of all proposed buildings. structures. (iriyevyays. septic tanks. and other
improvements.

to be preserved or relocated.
4. Vegetation Removal Plan
The tegetation rcnio,.aI plan must illustrate the existing iegetati\c conditions on the project site. including an
identification of what areas %v ill he impacted b}the proposed deyclopnient actiyiv, and %ghat areas are proposed for
preservation or replanting.
5. Mitigation
All native Vegetation shall be protected on site to the greatest extent possible. If impact is unavoidable, mitigation
shall he provided through one ofthe mitigation methodologies outlined in Land Development Code Section
6.00.05.1).

authorization.

The exemption allows you, as the owner of your property, to act as your own contractor with certain restrictions even though you do not have a license.
You must provide direct, onsite supervision of the construction yourself. You may build or improve a one -family or two-family residence or a farm
outbuilding. You may also build or improve a commercial building, provided your costs do not exceed $75,000. The building or residence must be for your
own use or occupancy. It may not be built or substantially improved for sale or lease. /f you sell or lease a building you have built or substantially improved
yourself within 1 year after the construction is complete, the law will presume that you built or substantially improved it for sale or lease, which rs a
violation of this exemption. You may not hire an unlicensed person to act as your contractor or to supervise people working on your building. It is your
responsibillty to make sure that people employed by you have licenses required by state law and by county or municipal licensing ordinances. You may
not delegate the responsibility for supervising work to a licensed contractor who is not licensed to perform the work being done. Any person working on
your building who is not licensed must work under your direct supervision and must be employed by you, which means that you must deduct F. L C.A. and
withholding tax and provide workers' compensation for that employee, all as prescribed by law. Your construction must comply with all applicable laws,
ordinances, building codes, and zoning regulations.
