To Whom it may concern,
The following addresses issues pertaining to the sliding glass door and window
replacement for the above -mentioned project. Based on site observations the following
are assumptions about the existing building:
O Existing building is not post tensioned. Existing rebar was observed
exposed in other areas of the building.
O Building unit is sprinklered and has been confirmed by GC.
1. Replacement of existing 4'x9' window with new non -impact rated window into
existing opening. Non -impact rated window protected by existing hurricane
shutters.
2. Replacement of 11'x6'-8" multi -paneled sliding glass doors with new 11'x6'-8"
non -impact rated multi -panel sliding glass doors. Non -impact rated sliding glass
doors protected by existing hurricane shutters.
3. Replace existing wood framing over existing sliding glass doors. Provide new (2)
2X12 composite wood header w/ 1/2" plywood spacer. New composite wood
header to be composed of (3) 1od x 3" long ring shank nails, 6" from ea. end and
bal. evenly spaced w/ max spacing of 12" o.c. ea. Side. New p.t. 2x4 wood nailer
to existing concrete floor above w/ 21/2" concrete anchors @ 6" ea. end and bal.
evenly spaced w/ max spacing 32" o.c. New wood header attached to existing
masonry wall @ ea. End w/ Simpson HUS412 masonry connection.
4. New wood framed exterior shall be constructed to re-establish the existing 1-hour
rated assembly.
5. All doors and windows shall comply with the Wind Design Load Criteria below:

Maximum Components and Cladding Pressures are as follows:
4' x 9' Window: -53.6 PSF or +52.67 PSF (ASD)
11' x 6'-8" SGD: -51.4 PSF or + 49.4 PSF (ASD)
