Undedayment The underlayment is composed of SBS modified asphalt with a fiberglass mat internal reinforcement and is surfaced with granules. The product is supplied with a nominal thickness of 50 mils in 1.95-sq rolls with nominal dimensions of 3-ft x 65-ft. See manufacturer's installation instructions for further detail. Deck shall be installed in accordance with FBC requirements. Roof decks shag have no more than 1/8"gap at abutting joints. Uin.slope: 2:12 or in accordance in with FBC Application: Prior to beginning installation, the undedayment shall be unrolled and a/owed to relax for a minimum of 3-5 minutes. The underlayment instaffabon shag comply with FBC Table 1507.1.1.1. In steep-slope applications (>6:12), it is permissible to nail the uoderlayrnent 12- inches on-center as needed(nails shall be installed penpendialar to deck with the nad heads flush to the top surface of the undedayment). For valley applications, the roll shag be applied centered along the valley prior to installing the undedayment at the eave and overlapped a minimum of 64nches. For eave protection, the undedayment should extend to a point 184riches beyond the interior wall. Allowable roof coverings: Mechanical attachment of asphalt shingles and slate shingles shag be permitted in accordance with the FBC. Where discrepancies exist between these sources, the more restrictive and FBC compliant installation detail shall prevail. 5) Deck substrates shah be clean, dry, and free from any irregularities and debris. AN fasteners in the deck shall be checked for protrusion and corrected prior to urhdedayment application. 6) The undedayment may be used as described in other current FBC product approval documents. 7) Roof coverings shall not be adhered directly to the underla"ent_ Roof coverings shah be mechanically fastened through the undedayment to the root deck. 8) The undedayment shall not be installed over existing roof coverings. 9) The undedayment shall be installed starting at the eave in horizontal layers such that the laps shed water from the deck. The first layer shalt cover the entire bottom edge of the deck. End laps shall be staggered a n**n xm of 24-inches from the preceding course. 10) The undedayment shall be exposed on the roof deck for a maximum duration of 30 days. 11) AN products listed in this report shall be manufactured under a quality assurance program in compliance with Rule 61 G20-3.
