Good afternoon.
I am writing in response to your Plans Examiner Review and Zoning Review of our property at 8600 Penny Lane, Fort
Pierce, FL 34951, Parcel #1301-608-0194-000/9, Permit#2104-0268.
We are requesting a building permit to convert our existing garage to a storage room, not living space. We are replacing a
non -rated garage door that is in poor condition with a structural wall to help with our insurance mitigation and better
protect our home. We are empty nesters that do not require extra living space.
Attached please find the paperwork for the windows.
We believe that energy calculations for an unconditioned storage area are not required. No modifications to the existing
thermal envelope are requested or shown.
Also, it is our understanding that storage areas do not require outlet spacing per NFPA 70. The outlets are located per the
originally permitted drawings as follows: (1) in the west wall, (1) in the north wall, and (1) in the ceiling.
The intended use is un-conditioned storage.
As the area enclosed is not to be conditioned and is not living space, septic evaluation is not necessary.
The garage floor is recessed per the originally permitted documents. The concrete curb on the window detail is to provide
separation from framing members to the concrete driveway slab.
We respectfully request that you please review this application as submitted.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any additional questions or require any further information.
Regards,
Diane and Bill Downing
