IF YOU INTEND TO INSTALL YOUR HOME ON YOUR OWN LOT (NOT IN A PARK), SOME SITE PREPARATION WILL BE NECESSARY. ALL GE (AT THE ION ND MUST SLOPE IAAMINIMUM OF 1/2TAPER TFOOT IAWAY ROMTE) MUST ETHE FOUNDATION OR SKRDIVERTED AWAY FROM HTINGOF FORA FIRST 10'. THE SITE MUST BE GRADED TO PROVIDE FOR STORM RUN-OFF. SPECIAL CARE MUST BE TAKEN WITH THE AREA DIRECTLY BELOW YOUR HOME TO PREVENT WATER FROM PONDING AND/OR PUDDLING UNDER YOUR HOME AND SUPPORTS. IF THE SPACE UNDER THE HOME IS TO BE ENCLOSED WITH SKIRTING OR OTHER MATERIALS, A VAPOR RETARDER (I.E. POLY...) MUST BE INSTALLED TO COVER THE GROUND UNDER THE HOME (SHALL BE 6 MIL. AND ALL SEAMS TO OVERLAP 12" MIN.) REPAIR ANY TEARS OR VOIDS IN THE RETARDER BY PATCHING WITH LIKE MATERIAL, MAINTAINING A MINIMUM 12" OVERLAP AND SEALING JOINTS WITH DUCT TAPE OR MASTIC. PIER SUPPORTS MUST BE PLACED ON UNDISTURBED SOIL (ALL GRASS AND ORGANIC MATERIAL MUST BE REMOVED) OR FILL WHICH IS COMPACTED OR FULLY SETTLED (SEE SU-4.1, DETAIL 'A' AND DETAIL 'B'). IN AREAS THAT ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO FROST, PIER SUPPORTS MUST BE BELOW THE FROST LINE. OPTIONAL: PIERS MAY BE PLACED ON CONCRETE RIBBONS 6" X 16" X LENGTH OF HOME MINUS 18", (A•) BLOCKING REINFORCED WITH WELDED WIRE MESH. UNLIKE A STANDARD HOUSE, YOUR MANUFACTURED HOUSE DOES NOT NEED A FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT IT COMPLETELY AROUND ITS PERIMETER. THE STEEL FRAME OR CHASSIS USED FOR TRANSPORTATION ALSO SUPPORTS THE HOME AT ITS HOME SITE. THE STEEL FRAME MUST BE SUPPORTED (SEE SU-01-0003 & 0004) TO PREVENT YOUR HOME FROM SAGGING, AND TO KEEP IT LEVEL. NOTE: ADDITIONAL PIERS ARE REQUIRED AT ALL RIDGE BEAM SUPPORT COLUMNS (EXCEPT AT THE FRAME HEADER), SHEARWALLS, AND AROUND THE PERIMETER OF YOUR HOME. CHECK FOR THE APPROPRIATE DETAILS FOUND IN THIS AND THE SET-UP MANUAL ADDENDUM FOR SPECIFICS FOR EACH TYPE OF ADDITIONAL BLOCKING REQUIRED. SPECIFIC BLOCKING LABELS ARE FOUND ON THE EXTERIOR SIDES OF YOUR HOME. Page SU-01-0008 in the Jacobsen Homes' HUD Set -Up Manual was based on the 2004 FBC-R Code that was in effect when this detail was submitted for approval and included in the Set -Up Manual. The 2004 FBC wind speed was based on wind speed=Vasd (mph). Since that time Florida has adopted the 2010 FBC which is based on wind speed= Vult (mph). The loads that are derived from Vult utilize a factor of 0.6 whereas those based on Vasd do not utilize a reduction factor. Therefore, converting loads from Vasd to Vult results in the following equivalent wind speeds: 120 mph Vasd, Exposure B = 140 mph Vult, Exposure C 140 mph Vasd, Exposure B = 164 mph Vult, Exposure C The reference standard contained in the 2010 FBC for Vult is ASCE 7-10, while the reference standard in the 2004 FBC for Vasd is ASCE 7-05.
