1.NATURAL VENTILATION. I CERTIFY THAT THIS HOME IS DESIGNED TO
COMPLY WITH THE NATURAL VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS OF
SECTION 402 OF THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, MECHANICAL.
2.SAFETY GLAZING. ALL GLAZING IN SLIDING AND SWINGING
DOORS, INCLUDING SHOWER AND TUB ENCLOSURES, TO BE
SAFETY GLAZED AS PER FBC 2406.4 & R308.4. ALL GLAZING IN ANY

REINFORCED MASONRY NOTES
1.DESIGN OF THE REINFORCED MASONRY IS BASED ON THE
BUILDING CODE REQUIREMENTS FOR MASONRY STRUCTURES (ACI
530) AND THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR MASONRY STRUCTURES (ACI
530.1).
2.CONCRETE BLOCK SHALL BE NEW AND UNDAMAGED AND
CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF ASTM C90, F'M = 1900 PSI
MIN. BLOCK IS TO BE HANDLED AND STORED TO PREVENT
DAMAGE TO AND CONTAMINATION OF THE UNITS.
3.MORTAR TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF ASTM C270,
TYPE M OR S. MORTAR TO BE TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM
C1314 AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PROJECT AND AT EVERY 5000 SF
OF WALL AREA.
4.GROUT FOR FILLED CELLS SHALL BE 3000 PSI (MIN) AND CONFORM
TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF ASTM C476 WITH A SLUMP OF 8" TO 10".
CONCRETE FILLED CELL MIX WITH A F' OF 2500 PSI AND A SLUMP
OF UP TO 8" MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR THE SPECIFIED GROUT.
GROUT (OR FILLED CELL MIX) TO BE TESTED EVERY POUR AND AT
EVERY 50 YARDS MINIMUM. WHEN GROUTING IS STOPPED FOR
ONE HOUR OR MORE, THE GROUT SHALL BE STOPPED 1.5" BELOW
THE TOP OF THE CONCRETE BLOCK.
5.REINFORCING STEEL SHALL COMPLY WITH ASTM A615, GRADE 60.
ALL STEEL TO BE #5'S UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, PLACED IN THE
CENTER OF THE CELLS, UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE. CELLS TO BE
FREE OF MORTAR AND CELLS SHALL ALIGN VERTICALLY TO
MAINTAIN A CLEAR UNOBSTRUCTED VERTICAL CELL, MINIMUM
WIDTH OF GROUT SPACE SHALL BE 4". STEEL TO BE LAPPED 48 BAR

6.CLEANOUTS SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL FILLED CELLS AT THE

7.MATERIAL CERTIFICATES SHALL BE SUBMITTED AND APPROVED FOR
THE REINFORCING STEEL, MASONRY UNITS, MORTAR AND GROUT
MATERIALS.
8.WHERE DOWELS WERE NOT PROPERLY PLACED IN THE
FOUNDATION, NEW DOWELS MAY BE DRILLED (Ø3/4" X 8" DEEP
MIN.) AND SET IN PLACE WITH EPOXY WITH 'US ANCHOR
ULTRA-BOND EPOXY'.
9.SHORING DESIGN MUST BE SUBMITTED AND APPROVED PRIOR TO
PLACING BLOCK ON STRUCTURAL MEMBERS NOT DESIGNED FOR
THE WEIGHT. THE DESIGN OF THE BRACING OF WALLS UNDER
