The data revealed a post loaded at 30' above ground reached 91 lbs. before failure. The requirement for R4101.17.1.15 was 52 lbs. The new specification oFR4501.17.1.15 still has the same requirements of 52 lbs. loaded at 36". The old past still met the latest requirements. The original access gate was self -closing and was 48" tall. The release mechanism was over 54". The previous requirement was under R4101.17.1.8 and R4101.17. i . l . The new specification per R4501.17.1 t is still a minimum of 48-and the latch requirement is still 5''•- per R4501.17.1.8. The older fence meets the new requirements. Pile length necessary for adequate support will depend upon the hardness of the ground or sand bad below grade. Typically this Is 61-W when using aluminum pipe for sand set V thick brick paver patios where the sand bed has been t roughly csmpacted. and W- 240 for grass and soil appfications. GRASS, AND SOIL: 1 IIS" OD aluminum tubing or similar suitable metal material such as 1 or 1 l PVC pipe of sufficient length to extend below the ground surface to a depth necessary to provide adequate support to the fence. Pipe length necessary for adequate support vAll depend upon the hardness of the ground and must be determined in the field' iypicaffy this is 18"-24" depending upon ground hardness and material used. V PVC pipe requires pouring concrete around R to support it WOOD DECKS; Wood decks using 2X lumber can be drilled normally and fencing installed in the normal manner assuming the good is in good condition. Any wood in less than good shape, thinner than 2x thickness, or not installed solidly will require an installation similar to the Sand Set Brick application listed above using the tubing to extend into a solid surface below. Other, the good should be reinforced underneath with an additional block of good screwed or nailed to the top surface. T othy W eck Protect--A-Chia Pool Fence Co. operations !Manager
