Solar Roof™ is a roofing system comprised of both PV and non-PV smooth or textured roofing elements. Please refer to the product data
sheets, UL listing, and installation documentation for further information.
Installation of Solar Roof™ requires a full tear-off of all existing layers of roof covering materials. This unloads the weight of all existing
roofing materials from the roof structure. The net installed weight of the smooth or textured Solar Roof™ system does not exceed 3.4 psf, is
evenly distributed, and no additional layers of roofing material are permitted. Consequently, the net additional loading impact to existing
gravity load resisting elements is less than 5% and no further analysis was performed.
Installer shall perform a full tear-off of all existing layers of roofing material and verify existing roof framing is in suitable condition and does
not exhibit any signs of structural damage which may diminish the capacity of its members or connections prior to commencement of roofing
installation.
I certify that installation of the smooth or textured Solar Roof™ system on this job, given no presence of existing structural damage at time of
installation; meets the criteria outlined in Section 503 of the IEBC/CEBC (alterations to existing structures) and is therefore permitted by
code without alterations or strengthening of the existing framing.
