(CSE) has performed an engineering analysis with regard to the proposed preformed aluminum metal roof panel system to be installed at the subject property. Specifically, CSE was asked to perform a fastener equivalency analysis to determine if the proposed alternate self -tapping screws meets or exceeds the minimum resistance of the aluminum ring -shank nails for the attachment of metal roof panel system. The extent of the CSE engineering analysis is limited to the determination of the acceptability of the alternate fastener equivalency from a wind resistance standpoint only. This letter provides a summary of our engineering analysis. APPLICABLE BUILDING CODE AND REFERENCED STANDARD Based on our review of the Saint Lucie County Building Inspections Department, the current applicable building code is the 2020 Edition of the Florida Building Code (7th Edition) (2020 FBC)1. The referenced standard for determining the withdrawal resistance of the aluminum ring -shank fasteners is the 2018 Edition of the National Design Specification for Wood Construction (2018 NDS)2. NEW ROOF ASSEMBLY Based on our review of available document, the new roof system to be installed at the subject property is the Country Manor Shake manufactured by Classic Metal Roofing Systems (a division of Isaiah Industries, Inc.). It is the understanding of CSE that the structural roof deck, original fastener, and alternate fastener are as follows: Florida Building Code, 7th Edition (2020), International Code Council, Inc. CLOSING The opinions expressed in this letter are provided to a reasonable degree of engineering certainty. The engineering analysis is limited to the determination if the proposed alternate self -tapping screws meets or exceeds the minimum resistance of the aluminum ring -shank nails for the attachment of metal roof panel system at the subject property.
