Pierce, Florida 34950 RE: Comeau Residence—5440 Slash Pine Trail, Ft. Pierce 34951 - St. Lucie Permit No. 2103f 0765 To Whom It May Concern: Please be advised that I have inspected the sliding door installation from the family room to the rear porch. The original 2"x 8" side bucks for the slider were installed directly to the masonry. The installation was inspected and approved by the St. Lucie County Building Dept. However, when the slider was initially set, it became apparent that the rough opening was slightly too wide for the proper installation of the slider. The contractor installed an addition 1"A" and 2"x8"to the original installed buck to essentially reduce the width of the rough opening width by 4 %2". We have no objection to the installation of the additional wood framing to reduce the width of the rough opening. The contractor shall install a minimum of(2)#10 x 4" wood screws per row through the 1 x and 2x into the original 2"x8"buck. There shall be a minimum of six(6)rows of screws per each side of the slider approximately 18" maximum on center. The top and bottom rows should be within 6"of the top and bottom of the buck respectively. We also inspected the exterior swing door from the bathroom(serving bedroom#3) to the rear porch. The original 2"x 8"header buck for the slider was installed directly to the masonry. The installation was inspected and approved by the St. Lucie County Building Dept. However, when the door was initially set, it became apparent that the rough opening was slightly too high for the proper installation of the door. The contractor installed an addition 2"x8"header buck to the original installed header buck to essentially reduce the rough opening height by 1 1/z". We have no objection to the installation of the additional wood framing to reduce the height of the rough opening. The contractor shall install a minimum of(2)#10 x 3"wood screws per row through the additional 2x into the original 2"x8"header buck. There shall be a minimum of three (3) rows of screws, approximately 16" maximum on center connecting the additional header buck to the buck connected directly to masonry. The outer rows should be within 6" from the corner of the opening. I hereby certify that the connection pattern and additional wood framing described herein will resist the design wind pressures on the slider and swing door, as required by the 71h Edition Florida Building Code. Whereby, properly tran`tVrr ngi ttWoads to the original bucks connected to the masonry. Please call me should you require T or tion. Sincerely, :'v '•., d LU W _ Todd N. Smith, PE FESSIONP
