Wind load calculations based on 2020 FBC Table R 301.2(2) Components & Cladding simplified method. 2. Wind force estimates are collector area dependent. The table provided on p2 was developed using the smaller area of the 4x8 pool panel giving slightly higher pressures for the larger panels. This complies with FBC to use the area of 1 module or collector for wind pressure calculations. 3. The design of this installation is based on requirements of the 2020 FBC 7th Ed Residential and referencing equations set forth in 2017 FBC Table R 301.2(2) and testing of the solar collector in accordance with FSEC Standard 102-10. Jan 2010 “Minimum Standards for Certifying Solar Thermal Collectors” 4. The Solar Pool Panels installed per these drawings are for the Solar Hydronics products under the brand names of Hi-Tec, iSwim, Nuvis, and SwimMaster. 5. Pool panels must be installed with Solar Hydronics Mounting Hardware with bolts for Universal Strap Anchors lagged into rafters to achieve the wind load ratings listed. 6. Wet collector load is under 1 psf total for all models. 7. Solar Hydronics Pool collectors are designed to be installed laying on a pitched roof using a combination of header clamps and strapping. With the strapping, the panel is allowed to move with wind load thus eliminating the need to consider it as part of the building envelope. 8. In all cases, the installation contractor must comply with any local AHJ requirements. SCOPE OF WORK: Solar Pool Panel Improvement/Retrofit; using Solar Hydronics manufactured pool panels under the following trade names: Hi-Tec, iSwim, Nuvis, and SwimMaster. The scope of work is to verify that the solar pool heating system(s) specified in this document, meets the requirements set forth in the Florida Building Code 7th Ed. (2020) Residential as well as FSEC 104-10 plus any other local AHJ require- ments. HOW TO USE TABLES & FIGURES Page A-102: 1. Determine wind zones on roof from figure. “a” is 4 ft. in all cases. 2. Obtain the wind speed from the local authority having jurisdiction or on the line from ATC wind speed. 3. Note the roof pitch and mean elevation (height) of the roof and round up example, mean roof elevation is 16 ft, use 30 ft. 4. Pick the table that fits the exposure and mean roof height. Example: Category C exposure - site conditions with some flat areas and 15 ft means the mean roof height is no taller than 15 ft. Mean roof height is the average of the ridge and eve heights. 5. Locate the column for the wind speed and circle the down force and uplift pressures for the three roof pressure zones. 6. Multiply values by the appropriate adjustment factor for exposure and mean roof height 7. Select a bolt length and strapping combination that has a psf rating above the psf estimate of the roof zone for the wind speed, elevation, exposure, and roof pitch ENGINEER:JOHN ALGER4105 SAINT JOHN’S PARKWAY SANFORD, FL 32771 PH 800-929-3919 X1411 jalger@theleveredge.com State License # 74730 DRAWN BY: JOHN ALGER, PE PROVIDER: THE LEVEREDGE 1423 Gunn Highway Odessa, FL 33556 813-403-5100 Certificate of Authorization #: 31930 EQUIPMENT USED IN THIS APPLICATION MAY INCLUDE: Pool panels: iSwim, Hi-Tec, SwimMaster Plus, Nuvis.
