RE: TRUSS REPAIR INSPECTIONS
Lorraine Ingram Residence
3309 Avenue S
Fort Pierce, FL 34947
Dear Sir or Madam:
Per your request, Florida Engineering & Testing Inc. (Inspector: Naresh Persaud, EI#1100008977), has
conducted a visual inspection supplemented by client provided photographs on October 25, 2021, to
evaluate truss/rafter repairs at all eaves of the residence that exhibited damage.
Background Information
The client is re-roofing the above referenced building. Based on the client's visual observation from below,
all the wood roof trusses/rafters would require the 16-inch eave overhang around the roof perimeter only to
be repaired. It is our understanding that all areas with damaged wood roof trusses/rafters were repaired in-
place.
Engineered Truss/Rafter Repair Observations
• 2"x4″ of the same size/species/grade lumber was ″sistered-in" (scabbed) to the truss/rafter member.
• The "sistered-in" (scabbed) piece extended a minimum of two (2) feet past the damaged area of
each damaged member at the eaves.
• All "sistered-in" (scabbed) lumber was attached with 2 rows of 8d ring shank nails spaced
approximately 4" o.c. (nails in each row spaced 4" o.c.)
Based on our inspection of the repaired wood roof trusses/rafters and our engineer’s analysis, a ll
repaired wood roof trusses/rafters at the 16-inch eave overhang around the roof perimeter only were
observed to meet the minimum standards of the 2020 Florida Building Code, latest edition, and are
now acceptable.
Florida Engineering & Testing, Inc. appreciates the opportunity to be of service to you at this phase of your
