Certificate of Authorization No. 29824 17520 Edinburgh Dr Tampa, FL 33647 (813) 480-3421 MULE-HIDE PRODUCTS Underlayments PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Shur-Gard #40 Base Sheet Shur-Gard #40 Base Sheet is an ASTM D 2626 underlayment constructed of asphalt-saturated felt that is coated on both sides with weathering grade asphalt and surfaced with mineral surface fines. F/G Base Sheet F/G Base Sheet is an ASTM D 4601, Type II underlayment constructed of a fiberglass mat that is coated on both sides with weathering grade asphalt and surfaced with white sand fines. For use in the non-HVHZ only. APPLICATION Installation shall be in accordance with the published manufacturer’s installation instructions, the FBC, and the requirements below. Deck substrates shall be clean, dry, and free from any irregularities and debris. All fasteners in the deck shall be checked for protrusion and corrected prior to underlayment application. The roof deck shall be constructed of closely fitted plywood sheathing for new or existing construction. Plywood deck shall be installed in accordance with FBC requirements. Roof decks shall have no more than 1/8” gap at abutting joints. Shur-Gard #40 Base Sheet is permitted to be used as the base sheet in a two-ply underlayment in accordance with FRSA/TRI Florida High Wind Concrete and Clay Tile Installation Manual, Sixth Edition, RAS 118, RAS 119, or RAS 120. Roof coverings shall be mechanically fastened through the underlayment to the roof deck. Where discrepancies exist between these sources, the more restrictive and FBC compliant installation detail shall prevail. 4) Roof slope limitations shall be in accordance with FBC requirements. 5) Underlayments may be used as described in other current FBC product approval documents. 6) Underlayments without granule surfacing shall not be exposed on the roof deck for greater than 30 days. 7) All products listed in this report shall be manufactured under a quality assurance program in compliance with Rule 61G20-3.
