Starting with the first vent,nail the vent down with roofing nails placed 12"on center at manufacturer pre-marked locations. Tf the vent is being installed in cold weather,leave a 1/a" gap between each vent to allow for expansion in hot weather. Continue to nail the remaining pieces down taking care to keep the vents as straight as possible. The last piece may be cut to the proper length. Ridge Shingle: Using nail lines provided on top of vent, install the cap shingles directly to the vent, in compliance with the shingle manufacture's Notice of Acceptance (NOA)and installation instructions,using roofing nails of sufficient length to penetrate through the sheathing a minimum of 3/16"or at least 1"into wood plank decking thicker than 1".
