TOOLS & MATERIALS:
Hammer, plumb bob, chalk line, tin snips, snaplock tool, tape
measure, roofing nails or screws, and 6-7" ground spikes.
Open all packages, being sure all items are present and in good
condition.
PREPARATION:
You must prepare the surface around the home so no large hills or
valleys are present. This may be done by raking the perimeter of
the home. Also eliminate any weeds or obstacles in the way.
BOTTOM TRACK INSTALLATION:
The bottom track or F -Channel should be located on the ground
directly below (plumb with) the outside edge of the home. This can
be accomplished by positioning the plumb bob on the outside
bottom of the home so that the bob hangs down to the ground.
Position the very tip of the plumb bob in between the two
channels. Comers may be made by cutting a "V" shape into the
backside of the channel, then bending the track to form the comer.
--- ; Do not cut the bottom that goes
along the ground.
It is not necessary to put a spike in
every hole in the bottom track. You
have been provided holes both
inside and outside the bottom track.
We recommend you spike the holes
closest to the home, leaving the
holes in the middle of the channel
for drainage.
TOP BACK. RAIL INSTALLATION:
First determine the point on the lower part of the home where you
want the Top Back Rail to be hung, then snap a chalk line along
that line. Be sure when nailing you do not make it tight to the
home. Give it a small amount of room to expand; therefore
— decreasing any bowing that
' might occur. The bottom edge of
the top rail may be located below
the bottom edge of the home
given this location has solid
support for nails and provides
maximum solid bearing for top
rail against the side of the home.
Starting at a comer, bend the back rail around the comer, do not
cut at the corner, or butt two ends together to form a corner.
Attach the back rail to the home using the provided fasteners.
Attach the fasteners loosely In the elongated punched holes. it is
also important to leave a space of approximately 114" between
each section of backer, allowing for expansion and contraction.
CUTTING AND INSTALLING SKIRTING PANALS:
Measure every 16 inches around the
home making notations of the different
height measurements. This will allow
you to Identify how many panels need
to be cut at the same length and those
that need a special out.
Locate the point on the home at which
the panels will be the tallest, Doing the
tallest section first will give you a
:7 chance to use any shorter pieces in the
lower areas. Panels can be cut with a pair of tin snips. However, it
is recommended that you cut panels with an electric powered
circular saw with a fine-tooth blade turned backwards In the saw.
Always wear protective eyewear when operating a power
handsaw. Be sun) to hold panels tight while cutting to prevent
chipping due to vibration from the saw. You can cut up to 3 panels
at once if the same measurement is needed. The bottom edge of
all panels should be cut to match the contour of the ground. The
skirting panels sit in the bottom track (F -channel) and therefore
will follow the contour of the ground. For example, if your home is
on a slope and you out the bottom of the panels straight across,
not at an angle, the panels will shift to match the contour of the
ground, causing the paneling to look crooked.
Three or more locking tabs are to be
6
punched on the bottom and top edge of
each panel to insure that the panel stays in
the bottom and top tracks. This will prevent
the skirting from blowing out during heavy
wind.
Comer panels may be formed by bending
the panel over a comer of a table. Never butt sides to form a
comer. Do not attempt to bend panels In extreme cold
----
weather. Panels should be preheated
before attempting to bend them in freezing
weather.
Start the first from the
panel corner along
the front side of the home, then begin to
work your way around your home. Panels
are interlocked by sliding the panel
downward into the self -aligning groove on
the adjoining panel until it snaps into the ground F -Channel.
Should your home be excessively high off the ground, (over
approximately 36") or should you have difficulty keeping the
panels from blowing out during high wind ... the skirting panels
have an opening of approximately 5116" diameter at the point
where they interlock. Purchase 1/4" OD steel rods. Cut the steel
the same length as the skirting panels and drop into the 5116"
opening where the panels interlock. This steel rod adds strength to
the panels and will help secure them.
TOP FRONT RAIL INSTALLATION:
While holding the panels in place,
------- push the top rail into the backer. It
may be stiff, but it is ensuring a fighter
fit. You will feel the top rail click into
place, creating a secure interlocking
fit. All vinyl skirting systems expand
and contract with temperature change.
The two piece rail system has factory
pre -notched top rails which conceals
this expansion and contraction. This
_ alleviates any unsightly gaps that may
be present in some skirting systems.
This will also allow you to overlap the
Y ends of the top rail to prevent buckling
during expansion and contraction due
ito weather.
Notice: Exercise caution when using a string -type grass trimmer
near any vinyl. Vinyl skirting should be cleaned with a mild soap
and water at least twice a year.
Locking The Panels
A snap lock tool is used to punch locking tabs on the outside bottom and the outside top edge of each panel. The panel should be punched on the
two "U" ridges as well as on the flat portion of the panel,1/2 to 3/4 inch from the bottom and top of the panel. When the panel is installed, it becomes
locked in the Ground Channel and the Top Mounting Channel. This feature assures retention of the panel in the Ground Channel as well as the Top
Mounting Channel.
Self -aligning panels easily snap and slide into place. Be certain that each panel positively interlocks with the panel adjoining it. (Above 36" panel
height, a framing support system should be considered.) In high wind areas, windguards may be needed.
Installing The Panels
Panels can be installed by setting into the bottorn channel and leaning against the back trim. Panels should not be cut but bent around corners.
Fitting Panels Around Service Connections
Cutting and fitting to virtually any shape or radius is easily done with Kingsbury. Using aviation snips, cut the panel to fit around the connection. Cut
the panel from the side — not from the top or bottom. Keep snip points open as if cutting cloth to avoid cracking panels.
CAUTION
Proper installation of Mobile Home Skirting requires that the Top Back Rail be nailed or screwed loosely so the panel will slide freely in the slots.
This can be accomplished by leaving the nail or screw head 1/16" to 1/8" from the face of the panel.
The nail or screw must penetrate a solid nailable surface by 3/4".
Do not place outdoor cookers near the vinyl skirting because the heat will distort the panels. Any heat source must be kept away from the panels
or damage may occur.
Step 4: Installing the Top Trim Front Strip
The Top Trim Front Strip installs easily by snapping the top edge of its spring lock into the Top Trim Mounting Strip. Be sure to push the Top Trim
Front Strip all the way into the Top Trim Mounting Strip until it "snaps" into place.
Each of the 17 pieces of the Top Trim Front Strip is notched 2" on one end to permit overlapping. Overlap ends of adjoining trim front approximately
1 ". Four of the pieces are factory -notched for forming corners. Two pieces are notched at 6', two at 4' from the end.
Starting at one of the front corners of the home with a piece of trim strip notched 4'.
From the end, place the short section on the front of the home and bend the longer section around to the side. At the other front corner, place a piece
of trim strip notched at 6'. Take the second piece notched 4' from the end and overlap the long section on the side of the home, bending the short
section to the back side of the home. Finally, take the last 6' notched section and bend around the remaining corner.
Cutting Additional Corners
If inside corners are needed, trim strips can be easily cut with aviation snips to form attractive corner joints by cutting a 45' mitre on adjacent ends
and butting. If extra outside corners are required (for porches or add -on rooms), notch the trip strips as shown, bend around the corner and snap
into place. Allow at least T of trim strip on each side of the corner.
Easy Access
Access can be gained at virtually any point by simply lifting the Top Trim Front Strip and sliding out the desired number of panels. Accessibility to the
area under the unit is available whenever desired.
V.S.I. Fire Statement: Rigid vinyl skirting and accessories are made from organic materials and will melt or burn when exposed to
a significant source of flame or heat. Normal precautions to protect vinyl skirting from sources of fire should be taken. Barbecues
and combustible materials, such as dry leaves, mulch and trash, should be kept away from skirting. Rigid vinyl will burn but will not
support combustion.

Installation Details
KINGSBURY
VINYL SKIRTING
Careful attention to a few basic details will insure that your Kingsbury Vinyl Skirting will provide a beautiful, easily installed, completely accessible
exterior with a minimum of maintenance.
Kingsbury Vinyl Skirting is easily installed over any terrain, requires no special tools and never needs painting. Following these basic installation
techniques will assure that Kingsbury will contribute to the beauty of your home's exterior.
Tools You Will Need:
Hammer, Screwdriver, Snips, Plumb Bob or Level, Tape Measure, Power Saw with Fine -Tooth Blade, Notching Tool, Chalk Line and Utility Knife.
IMPORTANT
1. Use either a power saw with a fine-tooth blade mounted with reverse rotation, or aviation snips to cut Kingsbury components.
2. To allow for normal expansion and contraction, fasten the Top Trim Mounting Strip in the center of the nail/screw slots. Fasten positively to
the surface of the unit at every slotted hole, leaving 1/2" between lengths. Do not butt the ends. Overlap Top Trim Front approximately 1" at
joints. Allow 112" between pieces of the Bottom Channel when installing.
3. Do not drive the nails or screws too tightly. If driven too tightly the vinyl can, under normal expansion and contraction, become distorted.
Nails or screws should be driven in the middle of the slot just short of touching the Top Trim Mounting Strip. Nail or screw to achieve 3/4"
penetration into a solid wood substance. Nail or screw to allow part to expand and contract during the normal change in ambient temperature.
DO NOT NAIL OR SCREW TIGHTLY. Allow 1/8" gap between nail or screw head and part.
Step 1: laying the Bottom Channel
A level or plumb line should be used to establish the location of the Ground Channel. The taller backside of the Ground Channel should be located
directly beneath the outside bottom edge of the home, where the Top Trim Mounting Strip will be attached. To prevent grass from growing around the
base of the skirting and provide a non -shifting for the ground spikes, asphalt roof starter should be installed around the home. The roof starter also
reduces the possibility of the vinyl skirting panels from being damaged from the use of a powered string trimmer. "Weed -Eater" type trim units will
damage the skirting and is not covered by the warranty.
Attach the Ground Channel directly to the ground through the pre -punched holes. Spikes are required every 20 inches. Another spike or a drift punch
may be used to drive spikes in completely. To allow for expansion, leave a 1/2" gap between each section of the Ground Channel. To form clean,
attractive corners, the Ground Channel can be notched with snips and then bent to the desired angle.
Note: In high wind areas: where ground below the unit is spongy; or where ground is loose from recent excavation and has not yet settled, it is
advisable to fasten Ground Channel to treated wooden stakes. For installation on concrete, use a 3/4" masonry nail instead of the ground spike.
"Liquid Nail" cement or other similar methods of setting a fastener directly to concrete can also be used.
Step 2: Installing Top Trim Mounting Strip
First determine where the Top Trim Mount will mount on the lower part of the home. The bottom edge of the Top Trim Mount can extend below the
bottom edge of the home if there is a solid support for nails/screws and a solid bearing for the Top Trim Front Strip against the side of the home. It is
helpful to mark a line around 'he bottom of the home with a chalk line or other method to assure a straight line where the Top Trim Mount Strip is to
be installed.
The Top Trim Mounting Strip is installed by driving the steel nails or screws in the middle of every slot. DO NOT NAIL OR SCREW TIGHTLY! (See
nailing instructions.) (See item #3 above.) Do not cut Top Trim Mounting at the corners. Gently bend over a sharp edge of a cutting table or a similar
surface to form the corner.
If the installation is made in extremely cold weather, the vinyl should be warmed to room temperature before bending. Warming will avoid the
likelihood of cracking.
Step 3: Cutting the Panels
The Top Trim Mounting Strip is constructed with two parallel ridges at intervals below the fastener slots. These ridges may be used to measure the
required panel height. For warm weather application, measure the distance from the ground to the middle of the ridges. In cold weather, measure to
the bottom of the top ridge. If the ground is level, several panels may be cut at one time using a hand power saw. Remember, if a power saw is to be
used, mount a fine-toothed blade in reverse position.
