ADDENDUM
EXTERIOR HEATING/COOLING DUCT
DUE TO THE NEW THERMAL REQUIREMENTS INSTITUTED BY HUD, THE INSULATION VALUES OF THE MANUFACTURED
HOME HAVE INCREASED. IT IS NOW NECESSARY FOR ALL EXTERIOR DUCTS INSTALLED ON JACOBSEN HOMES HAVE
A MINIMUM R-VALUE OF 8.
ALL HEATING AND/OR COOLING SUPPLY AND RETURN DUCTS EXPOSED DIRECTLY TO THE OUTSIDE AIR, SUCH AS
UNDER CHASSIS CROSSOVER DUCTS OR DUCTS CONNECTING EXTERNAL HEATING, COOLING OR COMBINATION
HEATING/COOLING APPLIANCES SHALL BE INSULATED WITH MATERIAL HAVING A MINIMUM THERMAL RESITANCE
OF R=8.0, WITH A CONTINUOUS VAPOR BARRIER HAVING A PERM RATING OF NOT MORE THAN I PERM. WHERE
EXPOSED UNDERNEATH THE MANUFACTURED HOME, THE DUCT SHALL NOT BE IN CONTACT WITH'THE GROUND,
/ DUCT SUPPLY OR RETURN

GROUND. PLACE STRAPS AS NEEDED TO SUPPORT DUCT (DO NOT RESTICT AIR FLOW BY OVER TIGHTENING

WHOLE HOUSE VENTILATION SYSTEM
YOUR HOME HAS BEEN EQUIPPED WITH A 'WHOLE HOUSE' VENTILATION SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM
HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO MEET ALL THE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH BY THE UNITED.STATES
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT. THE WHOLE HOUSE VENTILATION SYSTEM
IS REQUIRED (BY HUD) TO EXCHANGE AIR DIRECTLY WITH THE EXTERIOR OF THE HOME. THE
PURPOSE OF THIS SYSTEM IS TO GIVE THE HOME OWNER THE ABILITY TO INTRODUCE FRESH
OUTSIDE AIR INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE MANUFACTURED HOME, INSTEAD OF SIMPLY RE-
CIRCULATING THE SAME OLD, STALE AIR THROUGHOUT THE HOME, THUS IMPROVING THE INDOOR
AIR QUALITY. THE SYSTEM INSTALLED IN YOUR HOME HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO GIVE YOU COMPLETE
CONTROL OF WHEN AND HOW THIS SYSTEM IS USED.
YOUR HOME IS EQUIPPED WITH A FAN THAT WILL EXHAUST STALE INDOOR AIR (TO THE EXTERIOR
OF THE HOME). THIS FAN IS SWITCH CONTROLLED AND MAY BE MANUALLY OPERATED. TO DIs%c'cNT!'NUE
USE OF THIS SYSTEM, SIMPLY 'TURN OFF' THE SWITCH THAT CONTROLS THE FAN.

You will be able to locate the switch that controls this fan by locating the switch
that is labeled -WHOLE HOUSE VENTILATION.

SMOKE ALARM ADDENDUM
Enclosed in the home owner's packet is the smoke alarm user's manual, (if it is not there,
contact Jacobsen Homes and one will be sent to you.
NOTICE TO DEALER AND SET-UP PERSONNEL
This home is equipped with a smoke alarm system and must be tested in accordance with
the smoke alarm user's manual after the home is completely set-up and all the electrical
connections are done.
NOTICE TO CUSTOMER
Smoke Alarms have been installed in your Jacobsen Homes. You should be familiar
with the locations and operation, and learn how the alarms can be silenced once they have
sounded and be familiar with its use. This is a very important safety device installed for
your protection. Be sure that it is kept in A-1 working condition by testing if frequently
in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
The alarms operate on household current, and have battery backups. Its purpose is to
provide early warning in case of a fire. Again we stress the importance of keeping your
smoke alarms in proper working order.
TESTING SMOKE ALARM
Test smoke alarms after home has been set-up completely. To test the smoke alarm,
press and hold the test button on the cover of the unit, until the alarm sounds. All smoke
alarms should sound alarms. If all units do not alarm, replace units immediately. This
test should be given to all smoke alarms individually.
