As requested, KSM Engineering .& Testing has performed a subsurface investigation for the
referenced project. The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the discovered subsurface
conditions.
At the time of investigation, the site was found to be several feet higher than the adjacent road
and undeveloped with no major surface vegetation. Based on a conversation with the client, it is
our understanding that fill material had been placed prior to our arrival. KSM was not provided
with any information regarding the age of the fill or the site preparation procedure used to initially
prepare the site and place the fill.
Due to the limited scope of our investigation, our geotechnical opinions are based solely on the
discovered material at the test location and to the depth at which the test was terminated. We
recommend that a design level geotechnical investigation is performed to evaluate the subsurface
conditions to determine the suitability of the subsurface for the proposed construction.
The site investigation program consisted of performing three (3) hand auger soil profiles, each to
an approximate depth of 6 feet below existing grade with static cone penetrometer readings.
During the test, a shaft with a conical point is pushed through the soil and the thrust required to
push the cone tip is measured on an attached calibrated gauge. The value of the bearing pressure
exerted by the cone point allows the operator to estimate the existing soil density. After the thrust
was measured, the hole was advanced with a hand -auger in 1-foot increments to permit a
continuation of measurement of relative density versus depth. The relationship of the static cone
penetrometer reading to the relative density is listed below:
Penetrometer Table
Relative Density
Static Penetrometer Reading
Very Loose or Soft

The static cone penetrometer readings are indicated on the attached boring logs.

L%Q,IW AND TESTING
The boring logs indicate, in the locations tested, that the discovered subsurface soils consist
mostly of fine-grained sand with clay and traces of shell and rock. No 'muck' or other intrinsically
problematic soils were encountered in the test borings. Static cone penetrometer readings
recorded during the investigation indicates that the discovered soil density is generally medium -
dense. Please refer to the soil boring logs for specific information relative to the soil description.
This report has been prepared in accordance with generally accepted soil engineering practices
based on the results of the test borings. No warranties, either expressed or implied, are intended
or made. This report does not reflect any variations which may occur between the. borings.
Environmental conditions, wetland delineation, water quality, karst activity and municipal
requirements are not a part of this report.
We are pleased to be of assistance to you on this phase of your project. When we may be of
further service to you or should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office.
Respectfully, Cj ,q1 /111ii
