All models are compatible with most 12VDC alarm control panels (always adhere to the documenta- tion provided by the control panel manufacturer). The SLE- LTEV-CFB and SLE-LTEA-CFB series are compatible with most 12 or 24VDC control panels. Both can function as a backup to existing telephone lines, or as sole path primary communica- tors. In backup mode, both units will automatically switch the communication channel from the telephone line to the network when telephone line trouble is detected. See W12140 for pro- gramming information. These StarLink radios use data -capture technology that cap- tures the alarm report from the control panel and transmits the alarm signals to the SLE Control Center; the alarm signals are then forwarded to ANY central station via Contact ID or Sur - Gard System II via TCP/IP using standard line security. The SLE Control Center reports a trouble signal in the event that the network does not receive the expected supervision signal from the wireless communicator. For Commercial Burglary installations, under the armed condi- tion, any loss of communication must be treated as a Burglary Alarm at the Central Station. STARLINK RADIO REPORTING PATH The diagram below shows the transmission path of a signal from the StarLink radio to the central station. 1. Signal from a Control Panel. 2. StarLink radio receives the signal transmission (from the TIP an RING wires); sends RF signal through the GPRS network operator. 3. Network Operator, part of the vendor system, a section of the cellular spectrum. 4. SLE Network Operations Center, receives / routes data. 5. Central Station. The control panel may also trigger communication events through the use of FACP dry contacts connecting the (3) radio inputs, capa- ble of transmitting (4) distinct alarm and trouble event reports to the central station. ADDITIONAL COMPONENTS In addition to the models listed above, the following sub- assemblies are available: SLE-ULPS-R - Power Supply. Required for installations where the control panel cannot provide the 71mA of Auxiliary power re- quired to operate the StarLink radio. Uses a standard 4AH / 12V minimum (7AH maximum) rechargeable battery to provide radio standby power. Requires connection to either the model NAP - CO TRF12/T123 (16.5V / 20VA) external plug-in transformer or the chassis -mounted 16.5VAC / 20VA transformer affixed inside the housing (see wiring diagrams further in this manual). Note: For models without the SLE-ULPS-R, connect the radio terminals 1 and 2 to the control panel Aux Power terminals (observing polarity). The capability of indicating and communicating signal failures to the central station within 60 minutes of an outage allows the communicators to replace existing telephone lines. The following testing guide is intended to assist with the AHJ inspection of Fire communicator installations. All required test- ing procedures are described, followed by the correct system responses. Ensure that in cases where.a communicator trou- ble output is connected to an input on the FACP, the fire control panel properly annunciates the trouble condition. Normal LED Indications With the StarLink communicator in standby mode, ensure the LEDs display as follows: LED Verify this Condition Passed? Yellow Operational LED D4 Blinks every 10 seconds (indicates normal operation). ❑ Green RF Signal LED D3 Blinks at least 2 times (indicates minimally acceptable signal strength). ❑ Red Trouble LED D5 OFF (indicates no trouble present). ❑ Yellow Trouble LED on the OFF (indicates no trouble present). ❑ SLEULPS-R AC Failure Test Remove radio AC power and observe the following SLEULPS-R power supply indications: LED Verify this Condition Passed? on the SLEULPS-R Yellow Trouble LED Blinks once. ❑ Trouble Relay Output Activates after 2 hours; check for proper trouble annunciation at FACP. ❑ Restore radio AC power: Yellow Trouble LED Turns off. ❑ Trouble Relay Output Restores; check for proper trouble restoral at FACP. ❑ No Battery / Low Battery Test Disconnect the radio battery and observe the following SLEULPS-R power supply indications: LED Verify this Condition Passed? on the SLEULPS-R Yellow Trouble LED Blinks twice. ❑ Trouble'Relay Output Activates within 200 seconds; check for proper trouble annunciation at ❑ FACP Reconnect the radio battery: Yellow Trouble LED Turns off. ❑ Trouble Relay Output Restores; check for proper trouble restoral at FACP. ❑ (continued) 26 Signal Loss Test This test ensures that the StarLink communicator will indicate a supervisory trouble condition to the FACP and central station upon loss of signal within the required time period. Remove the antenna and observe the following indications: LED Verify this Condition Passed? Small and compact in design, Model FC901 is ideal for small fire -protection applications using less than 50 addressable devices: • Retail outlets I strip malls . doctors' offices • Dry-cleaner shops . restaurants, etc. With its built-in DACT and two (2) NACs, Model FC901 is powerful enough to economically meet the needs of these applications. Each 50-point FACP has City of Chicago, Class 1 Approval, as well as being FM (43010); CSFM (,47165-0067:0259) and FDNY (46104) Approved. Specifications The Model FC901 FACP consists of a main board (Model FCM901-U3); a 170-Watt power supply (Model FP2011-U1), and a Model FH901-U3 I R3 system enclosure. The programming software for Model FC901 is held in flash electrically erasable Cerberus® PRO The Model FCM901-U3 main board provides system display and control, as well as connections for system field wiring, via removable terminal blocks. The 3.5-inch (8.9 centimeters) by 1.5" (3.8 centimeters) liquid -crystal display (LCD) screen shows all system messages and event status. Each screen supports 182 characters: seven (7) lines with 26 characters per line. Each event may have a custom message up to 40 characters that describes the event's location. The backlit LCD screen illuminates on any system event or manual key press. New, 'unacknowledged' events are indicated by a flashing exclamation point ('!'). The main board supports four (4) system -control buttons, including: Acknowledge; Alarm Silence; Unsilence, and Reset. The system offers an off -normal warning feature, alerting users when active devices are not ready for reset. These active devices may include manual stations that have not been reset; smoke detectors with smoke remaining in the optical chamber, etc. Additionally, the main board supports an alphanumeric keypad, as well as navigation keys, which are used for scrolling maintenance functions and system configuration. The main board supports connection for up to 50 addressable devices, via one (1) 'Class A', or two (2) 'Class B' circuits. The loop supports all C-NET devices, including the Cerberus PRO intelligent and Model 'H'- series devices. The main board also supports one (1) 'Class A' or two (2) 'Class B' NACs. Each NAC supports a maximum 2.5 Amps — with 2.5 Amps, max, allowed between the NACs. Each NAC can be set to a synchronized strobe, for horn -strobe devices, or for audible devices. Audible devices can be set for:. • 'STEADY' • 'ANSI Temporal T /'ANSI Temporal 4' • 'March Time 30 / 60 1120 Codes' The main board supports four (4)'Form C' relays for Alarm, Trouble, Supervisory and User Programmable events. Each relay is rated at 2 Amps at 30VDC maximum, resistive. The main board supports two (2) auxiliary 24VDC connections. Upon system reset, one (1) connection interrupts the power for five seconds for use with (4) four -wire conventional detectors. Each auxiliary -power output is 24VDC, nominal — rated at 0.75 Amps. The main board contains a built-in DACT that provides communication between Model FC901 and with the central or remote monitoring station. The built-in DACT supports two (2) separate programmable accounts, as well as two (2) connections to the public -switched telephone network. The connections support RJ31 X male connectors. The main board contains a battery -charging circuit, providing connection to lead -acid batteries rated at 24VDC, nominal. The main board can charge up to 18 AH batteries. The main board contains a universal serial bus (USB) connector that supports connection for system configuration and module firmware upload, via the custom -configuration tool. Model FC901 can be configured using the custom - configuration tool or manually from the alphanumeric keypad on the main board. An auto -configuration feature creates a basic system configuration of all connected devices to accelerate initial system commissioning. 50-Point Addressable System Enclosure The Model FH901-U3 I R3 enclosure for the 50-point addressable fire system, Model FC901, supports all system modules. The enclosure also supports up to 12AH batteries. Note: For systems requiring larger than 12AH batteries, use a OUL Listed battery box. Model HTRI-M provides the most advanced method of address programming and supervision — including sophisticated FACP-communication — in the fire and life safety market. Each Model HTRI-M interface module incorporates microcomputer -chip technology, and advanced bi-directional communication capabilities with the respective FACP. Model HTRI-M is designed to monitor a N.O. or N.C. dry contact, and reports the contact status to the FACP. The microcomputer chip for Model HTRI-M has the capacity of storing — in memory — identification information, as well as integral operating -status data. SIEMENS Industry, Inc. Building Technologies Division Each Model HTRI-M interface module is programmed, via Model DPU, which is a compact, portable and menu -driven accessory that makes programming and testing a given interface more accurately and efficiently than ever before. Model DPU eliminates the need for mechanical - addressing mechanisms —such as program jumpers, DIP switches or rotary dials — since Model DPU sets the interface address of Model HTRI-M into its microcomputer -chip, non-volatile memory electronically. Vibration, corrosion and other conditions that deteriorate mechanical -addressing mechanisms are no longer a cause for concern. Model HTRI-M is connected to Model DPU with the programming cable provided with the tester. This programming cable (PIN 110-694927) utilizes two (2) alligator clip connectors, to attach to the HTRI-M. The HTRI-series modules provide the most advanced method of address programming and supervision on the market —combined with sophisticated control panel communication. Each HTRI-series interface module incorporates a microcomputer chip, and each interface module achieves the state of an 'intelligent device'through its microcomputer -chip technology, combined with its sophisticated, bi-directional communication capabilities with the FACP. Specifications The Siemens Mode HTRI-series intelligent interface modules are available in three (3) types: Model HTRI- D, as well as Models HTRI-S and HTRI-R, which are both designed to monitor a (N.0) or (N.C) dry contact. The interface module reports the status of the (N.0) or (N.C) contact to the control panel. Electronic address programming is easy and dependable . oUL Listed & ©ULC Listed; FM, CSFM and NYCFD Approved Model HTRI-S can only monitor and report the status of the contact, while Model HTRI-R incorporates an add ressabl e 'Form C' relay. The Model HTRI-R relay and contact device input are controlled at the same address. For the FACP, the relay and input contact can be controlled as a separate function. The relay is typically used where control or shunting of external equipment is required. The Model HTRI-D is a dual -input module that is designed to supervise and monitor two (2) sets of dry contacts. Model HTRI-D only requires one (1) address, but responds independently to each input. Model HTRI-D is ideal for monitoring a water -flow switch and its respective valve tamper switch. Model HTRI-D flashes twice — once for each address, and Model HTRI-R LED indicates a change of state in the relay. The device's microcomputer chip has the capacity of storing, in memory, identification information; as well as important operating -status data.
