This letter is to inform you about the upcoming concrete restoration project at the above
mentioned address. You should have received project specifications from the contractor. We
will be inspecting all the work during the project, including concrete repairs, post -tension repairs,
window, door, and shutter reinstallations, as required for concrete repairs, new railing
installations, exterior painting and waterproofing.
INSPECTION PLAN
A. Concrete & Post -Tension Repairs:
• WORK LOCATIONS & DIRECTION: The engineer shall inspect structural repair
areas and direct work, as required, regarding the location and estimated extent of
all structural repairs.
• EXCAVATION LIMITS: The engineer shall inspect and approve, as required, all
limits of concrete removal and all steel reinforcement repairs.
• POST -TENSION REPAIRS: The engineer shall inspect and approve, as
required, all existing post -tension cable de -stressing cable lock off installations,
new stress anchor and dead end anchor installations, new cable installations,
stressing and elongation measurements, and post -tension splice coupler
installations.
• APPROVAL TO PLACE CONCRETE: The engineer shall inspect all areas prior
to concrete placement and give approval, as required, for all concrete
placements. The engineer shall inspect all prep work, including forms, shoring,
safety, steel bar repairs, and any adjustments to excavation limits.
• PLACEMENT OF CONCRETE: All placements of concrete require on -site
engineering.and shall be inspected during the placements.

B. Window. Door and Shutter Reinstallations:
• REMOVAL: The engineer shall inspect all windows, doors and shutters upon removal
and prior to reinstallation to determine if they are structurally sound for reinstallation.
• INSTALLATIONS: The engineer shall inspect the size and nailing of new wood bucks
-prior to the re -installation of the windows and doors. After wood buck inspections have
passed, the engineer shall inspect the type, anchoring, fit, function and perimeter
caulking of the new windows.
C. New Railing Installations:
• PRE -INSTALLATION INSPECTIONS: The engineer shall inspect the size and spacing
of all railing components including, rail posts, pickets, top rail, intermediate rail, bottom
.rail, surface mounting plates and reinforcing inserts, if applicable, for compliance with
the permitted shop drawings.
• INSTALLATIONS:
o The engineer shall inspect the attachment of all rail posts to the existing structure for
compliance with the permitted shop drawings.
o The engineer shall inspect the edge distance from the slab edge to the nearest plate
anchor, if applicable, for compliance with the permitted shop drawings.
o The engineer shall inspect the post pocket grout material and edge distance to the
nearest slab edge, if applicable for compliance with the permitted shop drawings.
o The engineer shall inspect the height of the railings from the finish floor surface to
the top of the rail cap for compliance with the permitted shop drawings.
o The engineer shall inspect the space between the top of the finish floor surface and
the bottom the bottom rail for compliance with the permitted documents.
D. Exterior Painting:
• SURFACE PREPARATION: The engineer shall inspect all exterior surfaces to be painted
following the completion of surface preparation per the manufacturer specifications.
• PRIMER COAT: The engineer shall inspect the application of the primer coat upon
completion.
• SECONDARY AND FINAL COATS: The engineer shall inspect the application of each coat
of paint as required by the manufacturer upon completion of each coat.
-E. Waterproofing:
• SURFACE PREPARATION: The engineer shall inspect all surfaces to be waterproofed
following the completion of surface preparation per the manufacturer specifications.
• BASE COAT: The engineer shall inspect the application of the base coat upon completion.
• INTERMEDIATE AND FINAL COATS: The engineer shall inspect the application of each
coat of waterproofing as required by the manufacturer upon completion of each coat.
F. final:
• The engineer shall inspect and approve, as required, the completion of all phases of work.
We will be sending you copies of inspection reports, frequency to be determined by the building
department, and a final certification letter when the project is completed.
