SCOPE:
This NOA is being issued under the applicable rules and regulations governing the use of construction materials. The
documentation submitted has been reviewed and accepted by Miami-Dade County RER - Product Control Section to be
used in Miami-Dade County and other areas where allowed by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
This NOA shall not be valid after the expiration date stated below. The Miami-Dade County Product Control Section
(in Miami-Dade County) and/or the AHJ (in areas other than Miami-Dade County) reserve the right to have this product
or material tested for quality assurance purposes. If this product or material fails to perform in the accepted manner, the
manufacturer will incur the expense of such testing and the AHJ may immediately revoke, modify, or suspend the use
of such product or material within their jurisdiction. RER reserves the right to revoke this acceptance, if it is
determined by Miami-Dade County Product Control Section that this product or material fails to meet the requirements
of the applicable building code.
This product is approved as described herein, and has been designed to comply with the Florida Building Code
including the High Velocity Hurricane Zone of the Florida Building Code.
DESCRIPTION: Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment
LABELING: Each unit shall bear a permanent label with the manufacturer's name or logo, city, state and following
statement: "Miami-Dade County Product Control Approved", unless otherwise noted herein.
RENEWAL of this NOA shall be considered after a renewal application has been filed and there has been no change
in the applicable building code negatively affecting the performance of this product.
TERMINATION of this NOA will occur after the expiration date or if there has been a revision or change in the
materials, use, and/or manufacture of the product or process. Misuse of this NOA as an endorsement of any product, for
sales, advertising or any other purposes shall automatically terminate this NOA. Failure to comply with any section of
this NOA shall be cause for termination and removal of NOA.
ADVERTISEMENT: The NOA number preceded by the words Miami-Dade County, Florida, and followed by the
expiration date may be displayed in advertising literature. If any portion of the NOA is displayed, then it shall be done
in its entirety.
INSPECTION: A copy of this entire NOA shall be provided to the user by the manufacturer or its distributors and
shall be available for inspection at the job site at the request of the Building Official.
This NOA renews NOA No. 16-0105.01 and consists of pages 1 through 4.

INSTALLATION SPECIFICATIONS: (Single Layer: Slopes of 4:12 or greater)
Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment
1. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment shall be installed in strict compliance with applicable
Building Code.
2. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment shall be installed with a minimum 4-inch horizontal
lap and 6-inch vertical laps in a shingle layer fashion. Vertical laps in a succeeding course shall be staggered
from those in preceding course by minimum 6-feet.
3. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment shall be fastened with approved roofing nails and tin-
caps spaced 6" o.c. at all laps and three staggered rows fastened 12" o.c. in the field of the roll.
4. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment may be used with Asphaltic shingles, Wood shakes
and shingles, Non-structural metal roofing, and quarry slate.
5. For Roof Tile applications; Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment may be used as an anchor
sheet in roof tile applications when used in combination with a top membrane layer, consisting of a Miami-
Dade approved TAS 103 self-adhering underlayment. (See current NOA listing of approved TAS 103 self-
adhering underlayment for installation guidelines and limitations of use).
6. For fire classification of specific roof assemblies using Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment
refer to a current Approved Roofing Materials Directory for fire ratings of this product.
INSTALLATION SPECIFICATIONS: (Double Layer: Slopes of 2:12 to less than 4:12)
Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment
1. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment shall be installed in strict compliance with applicable
Building Code.
2. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment shall be installed with a minimum 25-inch horizontal
lap and 12-inch vertical laps in a shingle layer fashion. Vertical laps in a succeeding course shall be staggered
from those in preceding course by minimum 6-feet.
NOTE: A 25-inch wide starter strip of Deck Defense™ shall be secured and placed along the eaves. A full-
width sheet of Deck Defense™ shall be used to completely overlap the starter course.
3. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment shall be fastened with approved nails and tin-caps,
spaced 6" o.c. at overlap and one row fastened 12" o.c. in the field of the roll. Minimum 12" vertical laps shall
be fastened with approved nails and tin-caps, spaced 4" from the edge.
4. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment may be used with Asphaltic shingles, Wood shakes
and shingles, Non-structural metal roofing, and quarry slate.
5. For Roof Tile applications; Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment may be used as an anchor

BUILDING PERMIT REQUIREMENTS:
Application for building permit shall be accompanied by copies of the following:
1. This Notice of Acceptance.
2. Any other documents required by the Building Official or applicable building code in order to properly evaluate
the installation of this material.
LIMITATIONS:
1. Fire classification is not part of this acceptance; refer to a current Approved Roofing Materials Directory for
fire ratings of this product.
2. This acceptance is for prepared roofing applications. Minimum deck requirements shall be in compliance with
applicable building code.
3. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment shall be applied to a smooth, clean and dry surface with
deck free of irregularities. All nails in the deck shall be carefully checked for protruding heads. Re-fasten any
loose decking panels. Sweep the deck thoroughly to remove any dust and debris prior to application.
4. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment shall not be hot mopped, refer to manufacturer’s
published literature for product compatibility.
5. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment shall not be applied over an existing roof membrane as
a recover system.
6. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment shall not be left exposed as a temporary roof for longer
than 180 days of application.
7. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment are components used in roof system assemblies. Roof
system assemblies are approved under a specific Notice of Acceptance. Refer to Prepared Roofing system
Product Control Notice of Acceptance for listed approval of this product with specific prepared roofing
products.
8. Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment may be used with any approved roof covering Notice of
Acceptance listing Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment as a component part of an assembly
in the Notice of Acceptance. If Deck Defense™ High Performance Roof Underlayment is not listed, a request
may be made to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) or the Miami-Dade County Product Control Section
for approval provided that appropriate documentation is provided to detail compatibility of the products, wind
uplift resistance, and fire testing results.
9. All products listed herein shall have a quality assurance audit in accordance with the Florida Building Code and
Rule 61G20-3 of the Florida Administrative Code.
10. All membranes or packaging shall bear the imprint or identifiable marking of the manufacturer's name or logo,
city, state and the following statement: "Miami-Dade County Product Control Approved" or the Miami-Dade
County Product Control Seal as shown below.
