HomeMy WebLinkAboutFoundation LetterFebruary 24, 2022 TO:St Lucie County Permitting / Zoning 2300 Virginia Avenue Fort Pierce, Florida 34982 RE:Foundation Reinforcing Steel 30' x 25' x 14' Carolina Carports Metal Utility Structure 5420 Cassia Drive Fort Pierce, Florida Parcel No. 3402-610-0068-000-0 Permit No. 2104-0710 It is my understanding that the monolithic slab foundation for the above referenced utility building was constructed in accordance with the permitted building plans prepared by the undersigned Engineer, except that the specified two (2) No. 5 reinforcing bars in the perimeter thickened edges were omitted. W hile the specified two bars is consistent with standard construction practice, Florida Building Code does allow for “plain” (non-reinforced) concrete footings for support of light-weight frame buildings, provided that the concrete has minimum 2,500 psi compressive strength, minimum base footing width of 12 inches, and minimum footing thickness of 6 inches. It is my opinion that the foundation, as constructed, is adequate to provide support of the structure, and meets the requirements of Section 1809.7 FBC Seventh Edition (2020). If you should have any questions or require additional information, please do not hesitate to call. Respectfully, Bechtol Engineering and Testing, Inc. T h o m a s B e c h to l, P .E .
