Strapping/bolt table to size for PSF pressures Assuming 1/4 x 4" SS lag bolt or equivalent with 3-1/2" embedment into Southern Yellow Pine with SG=.5. Bolt length Strapping Max pressure 4" (3-1/2" thread) 3 straps up to 43psf 4" (3-1 /2"thread) 4 straps 44 to 65psf PSF values calculated using withdrawal figures from the Amer- ican Wood Council with a Safety Factor of 1.6. Strapping is rated to 2000 Ibs tensile and calculates to a pressure limit of 69 psf with standard strapping and 104 psf with HVHZ strapping using a 1.6 factor.
