Subject: Attachment to Post Tension Slab
To whom it may concern:
The exist structural slab is a post tension slab. Attachment to slab can be made by the use
of pins as long as the pin length is 3/4" or less. This allows for fastener penetration that
is less than the minimum cover requirements for post tension cables and therefore should
not have any conflict. Use of a Hilti PAF - X-ZF 0.138" diameter x 3/4" long pin (or equal)
has a allowable tensile capacity of 60 Ibs per pin. Spacing of and number of pins shall be
such that the load per pin is maintained at less than the capacity indicated. It is
recommended that in all connection locations 2 pins should be used with a minimum
spacing of not less than 1 1/2' for redundancy where possible. Wieder Engineering also
recommends that ceiling framing be spaced at 16" on center supporting'/2' thick drywall
boards.
