Subject: Stem-Wall Backfill Compaction - 3-Level Custom Home
8204 South Ocean Drive, Diamond Sands Lot 30, Jensen Beach, Florida
Allterra Engineering & Testing performed probe-rod and field-density tests on the compacted
Backfill between grade-level stem-walls of the subject project. Copies of the field-density test
results are attached to this report. Allterra’s services were performed to meet certain
requirements of chapter 18 of the 2020 Florida Building Code and local amendments.
Based upon the results of the probe-rod and field-density test, stem-wall backfill achieves
conventional standards of acceptance for well-compacted soil (at least 95 percent of
maximum-dry-density). Alterra estimates an effective subgrade-reaction modulus of 11,000
PSF/inch-deflection under moist conditions.
It shall be the responsibility of the contractor to maintain the condition of the backfill to prevent
erosion or other degradation. Bearing surfaces shall be kept firm, level and free of debris,
detritus or standing water through placement of concrete.
