GENERAL DEMOLITION NOTES
THE PURPOSE OF THESE DEMOLITION PLANS, AS MADE PART OF THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, IS TO GIVE THE GENERAL
CONTRACTOR A GENERAL IDEA AS TO THE SCOPE OF ARCHITECTURAL DEMOLITION WORK REQUIRED. THESE DRAWINGS
ARE NOT MEANT TO IDENTIFY ALL DEMOLITION WORK REQUIRED, NOR DO THEY ACCURATELY REFLECT ALL EXISTING
CONDITIONS. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO VISIT THE FACILITY, THOROUGHLY EVALUATE AND COMPARE
THE OWNER'S RECORD SET OF DRAWINGS IF AVAILABLE,OF THE EXISTING FACILITY AGAINST THESE DRAWINGS & ACTUAL
SITE CONDITIONS, AND REVIEW ALL CONTRACT DOCUMENTS TO ARRIVE AT THE SCOPE OF DEMOLITION WORK REQUIRED
TO ACHIEVE THE INTENDED RESULTS AND FINISHED PRODUCT.
ALL EXISTING SERVICE UTILITY LINES IN RENOVATED AREAS ARE TO TIE-IN INTO NEW SERVICE LINES OR ARE TO BE
TERMINATED AND CAPPED OFF AS REQUIRED. TERMINATE OR OTHERWISE CAP OFF ALL ABANDONED UTILITIES
BEHIND FINISH WALL SURFACES OR BELOW FLOOR SLABS.
ALL CONCRETE, MASONRY, TILE AND PLASTER SURFACES INDICATED TO BE CUT AND PATCHED OR ARE ON A SURFACE
IN WHICH A DOOR, WINDOW, OR PORTION OF THE SURFACE IS TO BE REMOVED, SHALL BE CUT WITH MASONRY SAWS
OR SCORED FOR CLEAN JOINTS AND PATCHED FLUSH TO RECEIVE NEW MATCHING MATERIALS AND FINISHES.
THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REGULAR REMOVAL OF ALL WASTE MATERIAL
FROM THE PROJECT SITE AS IT PERTAINS TO THE RENOVATION ACTIVITIES, AND ALL AREAS USED BY BUILDING
PERSONNEL SHALL BE KEPT CLEAN. IN LOCATIONS WHERE EXISTING WALLS ARE REMOVED, PATCH ADJACENT
WALLS AS REQUIRED WITH MATERIALS AND FINISHES TO MATCH EXISTING OR AS SCHEDULED BY THE DRAWINGS.
ALL ABANDONED OR REMOVED ELECTRICAL OUTLETS, LIGHT SWITCHES AND RELATED WALL OR CEILING
BOXES SHALL HAVE ALL WIRE REMOVED COMPLETELY BACK TO THE ELECTRICAL PANEL. SOLID OUTLET
COVERS MAY BE USED OVER THE ABANDONED SWITCHES OR OUTLETS PROVIDED. THESE ARE TO BE
LOCATED NO LESS THAN 6" FROM AN ADJACENT WALL OR FIXTURE. IF MORE THAN 6", THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL REMOVE THE BOX AND PATCH THE HOLE TO MATCH NEW FINISHES. ALL CEILING BOXES ABANDONED
SHALL BE REMOVED-IF REQUIRED.
THROUGHOUT ENTIRE PROJECT AREA: COMPLETELY REMOVE ALL PLUMBING FIXTURES AND ASSOCIATED
WATER & WASTE PIPING, ALL FLOOR DRAINS AND CAP LINES. REFER TO PLUMBING DRAWINGS FOR SPECIFIC
NOTES.THROUGHOUT ENTIRE PROJECT AREA: COMPLETELY REMOVE ALL FLOORINGS TO THE SUBSTRATE. EXPOSED
SUBSTRATES ARE TO BE GROUND CLEAN OR OTHERWISE PREPARED TO RECEIVE NEW FINISHES. ABANDONED
FLOOR DRAINS ARE TO BE REMOVED. LEVEL DEPRESSIONS TO ADJACENT FLOOR SLAB ELEVATIONS WITH THE
SPECIFIED LEVELING COMPOUND.
COMPLETELY REMOVE ALL CEILING GRID, TILE, LIGHTS, MECHANICAL DIFFUSERS AND EXIT SIGNS (REMOVE
ASSOCIATED CEILING SUPPORTED ITEMS.)
ALL OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE EXISTING CONSTRUCTION, NOT ESSENTIAL TO REMAIN, THAT WOULD
INTERFERE WITH THE INSTALLATION OF NEW WORK OR INTERFERE WITH THE INSTALLATION OF NEW FLUSH,
UNBROKEN PLUMB AND LEVEL WALL, CEILING, AND FLOOR SURFACES SHALL BE REMOVED.
REMOVE EXISTING SHELVING, COUNTERTOPS, CASE WORK ETC. WITH RELATED TRIM, BLOCKING, FASTENERS,
PLUMBING, AND ELECTRICAL. CAP ALL PIPING NOTED TO BE REMOVED AS PER PLUMBING DRAWINGS AND SPECS.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING ANY WALL AND/ OR FLOOR SURFACES
BEHIND OR UNDER OBJECTS THAT ARE TO BE REMOVED. THE WORK IS TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO
INSTALLING NEW GYP. BD., FLOORING AND PAINTING.
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING A SMOOTH LEVEL SURFACE IN ALL AREAS OF RENOVATION.CADFILE: 24x36DRAWN BY:
