Pierce - Performance Based Sanitary Sewer Treatment System Dear Brian, This letter shall formally respond to the review comments in the checklist provided to us by your office dated August 3, 2021. The following responses are numbered respectively to the comments that were highlighted in red. Page 1" 1. The septic plan has been revised. to show the 1" lines are the discharge and recirculation headers respectively. The arrows from the notes now point to the correct locations of the header. Pages 2-4 2. See Dripline Responses. 3. The Amarin Cup detail has been revised to provide for a contingency plan for sampling if full sampling volume can't be obtained. This has been contingency plan has bene reviewed by Eb Roeder on another job and has been approved. Also, a note has been added to the engineer's certification letter than flow will be monitored by the installation of a water consumption meter installed in the water building service line between house water softener system and piping servicing the residence. 4. See dripline responses 5. See dripline responses and response #1 for Page 1. 7. The contingency plan in the engineering report has also added what actions to be taken should sampling results fail secondary treatment standards. Drip Irrigation Review Items (Page 5-13). 5a. The septic plan has been revised to show all the allowable tank configurations. Multiple manufacturer tanks are shown on the plan because of current availability issues from the manufacturers. All aerobic tanks require pump tanks. All systems require trash tanks except for the AA500, which has the trash tank built into it. We draw the.3 tanks series on the actual plan because that would use the most;area and we want to make sure that the 3 tank series fits. Therefore, we know a 2 tank series would also fit. 5a5. The pump curve has been revised to show the operating, point is 18 gpm at 107 ft., which matches the dripline calculations. Filter and field'flushes are continuous. The headworks detail has been revised and a petcock valve has been added in the discharge line prior to the filter. I The filter flush does return to the pump tank directly without entering the supply line. The filter flush is approximately 2 gpm, therefore the flow going through the supply line is approximately 16 gpm. Based on a minimum 2.5 Mee flushing velocity of the field, 10.71 gpm is needed to flush the 7 loops, which is less than the 16 gpm going through the total supply line system. These flows are adequate to provide flushing of the I field and the filter. 5a6.1, See 5a5 response. 5a7.' See revised headworks detail. The petcock valve has been added to the discharge line prior to the filter. 5a8. The dripline calculator has been revised to show -a minimum of 18 minute run time for 6 doses; which provides for 108 total minute run time, which handles 405 gpm. A two -float control will be used in the IM540. The dosing trigger -is a power source timer in the control panel. The pump enabling float does serve as a dosing enabler. The automated dosing trigger is the timer in the control panel. The high water float also serves as a demand dosing trigger. Once the demand dosing is trigger by the high water float, control returns to the timer in the control panel and the pump enabling float. The lower pump enabling float must be triggered when the timer dosing is activated for the system to run. This assures that there is fluid in the system to actually pump. Essentially the two work together as a logic circuit. Demand dosing will run until high water float returns to non high water status. At which point the system returns to dosing determined by timer in control panel and status of lower pump enabling float. 5a14. Pierce, Fl. Due to the lot being platted prior to 1972, this PBTS design is based upon meeting the Secondary Treatment Standards. The 25% increase in allowable flow will require that the effluent be tested for fecal coliform. We are proposing to rely on the soils under the dripfield to help meet the required fecal coliform limits of=or<200 fe col/100 ml is met. Semi -Annual Testing of the sampled effluent will be utilizing two Amarin cups placed under the drainfield a minimum of every 6 months. Samples can be combined from both Amarin cups if necessary to secure a 100 ml sample for testing. As a performance based system with secondary treatment standards, CBODs and TSS shall be =or<20 mg/l. Since no reduction in drainfield is being proposed, ponding will not be required to be checked. This site is .262 acres (including green area in right of way directly in front of lot), served by a private well, allowing for 490 gallons for day lot flow, including a 25% increase for the proposed PBTS. The proposed single family residence to be constructed contains < 2,250 sf of building area (4 bedrooms). Based on the July 31, 2018 64E-6, Table 1, the system has been designed to accommodate a 400 gallon per day effluent flow. The pre-treatment is a 350 gallon chamber within the AA500 tank. The PBTS is an aerobic treatment system Aqua AA500 capable of providing treatment for 500 gallons per day effluent flow. An approved alternative is AS500L or AA800 tanks with IM540 Trash and Pump Tanks. The drip field will be a subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) system in a mound configuration, which will contain a 1" diameter header pipe for both dosing and flushing the drip lines and 1/2" diameter drip lines. The required drain field size has not been reduced. A visual inspection of the ground surface over the driplines and the testing for fecal coliform limits shall be made semi-annually each year by the service contract provider. The electrical wiring for the proposed PBTS will provide one (1) 20 amp dedicated electrical circuit for the pump and blower of the PBTS. This system has a constant, internal monitoring system. The system reports, via an audio alarm and a single flashing light, its system performance condition and operational status. The control panel/alarm will be mounted outside the west ekterior wall of the proposed residence. Even though this automatic monitoring system is in place, in the event of a.total system failure the owner/mairitenarice entity will utilize a pump -out truck until the automated system is back on-line. Plow will be monitored by the installation of a water consumption meter instajgr fii,the water building service line between house water softener system and pip4n sd I cjjp idence.
