This structure has been designed in accordance with the requirements of the 2014 Florida
Building Code, Fifth Edition - Residential, Chapter 3, Section R301.2.1. The following
wind load requirements, in accordance with 2014 Florida Building Code, Fifth Edition -
Building, Chapter 16, Structural Design, Section 1609 and ASCE 7-10 were employed in
the design of the structure:

1.) For exterior windows, use 1x4 P.T. buck on jambs and head.
2.) For exterior doors, use 2x4 (Min.) P.T. buck on jambs and head.
3.) For garage door use minimum 2x6 P.T. buck for jambs and required spring pads.
4.) Provide enough fasteners of type used to equal or exceed stated loads on table.
Fasteners are required no closer than 2" or more than 4" from ends and spaced
equal in distance along balance of buck.
Minimum fasteners for top buck is 2.
** Minimum fasteners for side buck is 3.
Approved Fasteners:
3/16 Tapcon with 1 %" penetration = 230 lb. of holding power.
%4" Tapcon with 2" penetration = 380 lb. of holding power.
See manufacturers specification for required fasteners to attach garage door, entry doors, patio doors and
windows to building. Note: Garage door "bucks" shall be attached to studs with 3/8"x4" lag bolts. Spaced
each 24" o.c. with minimum of 3 bolts.
