FIELD BRACING is not the responsibility of the truss fabricator, truss designer
nor plate manufacturer. Persons erecting trusses are cautioned to seek
professional advice regarding erection bracing which is ALWAYS REQUIRED
TO PREVENT TOPPLING AND DOMINOING DURING ERECTION, and perma-
nent bracing which may be required in specific applications. Trusses shall be
erected and fastened in a straight and plumb position. Where no sheathing is
applied directly to top chord, they shall be braced at 3'-0" o.c. max. Where no
rigid ceiling is applied directly to bottom chords, brace at 10'-0" o.c. max. To
avoid damage, always handle trusses with care.
FASTEN GIRDER TOGETHER AS FOLLOWS: Top chords and webs shall beLIVE
nailed together with 16D nails spaced 12" o.c. throughout (from both faces if
three or four members). Bottom chords: Nails used in truss hangers sufficient to
fasten first chord to second. Third chord shall be attached to second with the
followingnumber of nails for each supported
pported truss: {2) 16D Waits for supported
trusses spanning up to 16'; (4) 16D nails to 32', (6) 16D to 50'. When using four
chords use single bolt hangers for supported trusses spanning up to 32', and
double bolt hangers for supported trusses up to 50'. Bolts require washers at both
ends.
