I am sending a copy of my most recent letter to ARCH. John Foster so that you are aware
of how I described my need of his assistance in securing a building permit to bring a garage
conversion into compliance.
This is for your information only. I remain hopeful we can resolve the issue.

Hoping you are well. I am hearing you are, as always, very busy.
I met recently with Building Plans reviewer William Durden (summary letter to Mr. Durden
below) at his office to review the "comments" (attached below) he issued upon Chris Dale's
and my attempt to pull a permit to complete the renovations on 6703 Oneco Way in Lakewood
Park when submitting your plans. He hesitated to reduce the burden of his comments such as
providing "roof underlayment product approvals" and "manufacturer's truss placement
drawings." But, when I explained that l must bring the existing garage conversion into
"compliance" to avoid burdening my children and wife when I pass and was willing to re-install
garage doors to achieve compliance by returning to the original garage, he demonstrated
flexibility encouraging me to stick with your vision. The property's value would take a hit
without a second bedroom.
Mr. Durden is willing to issue a permit to complete your design contingent upon my submission
of a duct/HVAC distribution plan, energy calculations and Manual J for the project. He knows
j you and seems familiar enough with the integrity of your work to make any further approvals
necessary based upon your good word. I assume he needs only to verify existing Porch
Framing Plan and Porch Section as drawn.
To that end, I am reaching out to you John. A portion of my last communication with you is
below. Its understood that my previous request for a final invoice from you will be honored if
you so wish it.
"Thanks so much forgetting me the "Renovation Plan':
Minor corrections to it and Chris Dales and I will attempt
to pull a Master Permit...Also,please go ahead and cut
an invoice amount for the balance due. I still owe you
another$650."

Mr. Durden.
Time has passed and I have received no communication from Mr. John Foster regarding his
co-operation to bring Permit 1710-0065 to fruition. I have complied with your request to
submit a duct plan, energy calcs and Manual J. If you know of anything further I can do at this
point to secure a permit-to bring my home into compliance please-advise me. _
I am attaching a copy of the letter I wrote and sent to Mr. Foster for your edification. If 1 must
now find another architect to validate the existing conditions alluded to by Mr. Foster in his
plans can you advise me whom I may contact?

Attached are the energy calcs and Manual J for the non-conforming garage conversion to a
bedroom. These along with the duct plan copies I submitted two weeks ago are as you
requested of me to issue the permit.
I have reached out to Mr. John Foster who designed the plans under reivew and requested his
co-operation in whatever fashion it may be needed. I have not received word from him
regarding this request as yet. I will communicate with you via email as soon as that happens.
I will remain optimistic in this regard but if you have a chance to have a word with him I would
be greatly appreciative.
