In response to Mr. Hall's request that we review the referenced plans, and visit the site to confirm
location, size, and the number of supports, we offer the following:
We confirmed that the Portable Building dimensions are 23'-4" wide and 36-0" long, with height
at eave 10'-4" high as shown on the Plans. Also confirmed are the number of building supports
of concrete blocks. It was noted that the plans call for 8" high by 8" x 16" blocks and the existing
supports are mostly assembled by 4" high x 8"x16". Also observed is the fact that the plan calls
for 10"x24"x24" footings with horizontal rebars, but the existing block foundation supports are
placed on ABS pads.
In conclusion, we provide the following:
1. The number of foundation supports per Portable Building at Grace Emmanual Church is
30 (our foundation designs for Martin County School District Portable Buildings
assembled recently by Mr Hall total 15).

2. We analyzed the portable building foundation/tie-down anchorage per 2010 Florida
Building Code requirements (160 mph wind speed).
3. Our analysis results in a requirement that there be 5 anchors/straps on each side of the 36'
long structure to meet overturning and uplift force resistance. The number of metal strap
anchors on the Grace Emmanuel Church structures total 11 along each 36' long side,
including at each corner.
Therefore, we believe that the foundation supports and tie -down anchors for the Grace
Emmanuel Church Portable Buildings are adequate to against hurricane force winds. The only
concern is that although hurricane vertical anchorage is satisfactory, there could be a minor
horizontal variable movement of layers in foundation block supports.
